This issue Diamond is a promoional issue, which lierally means ha we are moving somehing forward. There will be no doub HS o wha we are moving forward. You may be smiling o yourself, hinking; propaga, enjoying your own wiicisms. Nsverless, we inend o make you more aware "cause Dord College." As high school college sudens, you mus be made aware because you, we, are reason for Dord College. When Dord College was esablished: some eigh years ago, inenion, consiuency was o erec a college for Chrisian young people who wan o learn under disincivclv Chrisian significanly culural influence. And Dord College is becoming wha she was purposed o be. Our College does no purpor o have bes educaional faciliies, bes academic se-up, bes college culure in Unied Saes. She does no claim cream---crop inelligensia. Bu wha she has done in eigh years is. excepional. I overheard 'an accrediaion agen remark in hall one day ha '(Compared o or young colleges, Dord's progress is amazing." Hearing his, we do no pa our own backs cheer for our bold play; we do, however, cheer our purpose. We have said ha as sudens we are reason for Dord College. Bu really we are secondary, God is primary Reason ha we have a college- His glory is chief end young people educaed o live winess in a world problem sin. Dord College, remember, does no exis for sake presiden; he is for sake College. Nor does Dord exis for sake faculy, Bu Dord exiss for you, who will learn o be bes scieniss. or musicians or pasors or eachers ha you can be. And as bes ha you can be, you are no an end in vourself, bu, showing humiliy obedience Chris, you are a medium hrough which God is glorified. -Cynhia NiblJe'1ink -Grea Ver Ziel Noe: Grea is a sophomore Edgeron. Minnesoa. She is also acive in SWIM. A his ime year one wonders abou religious amosphere Dord College. The chapels seem boring; one seems "oo busy" o read end sudy Bible; one has feeling ha he can do lile wrong a Dcrd College. Bu soon one realizes ha he is guily apahy: knows ha he has only been conforming o cusoms end rules. Then someone ges idea--why don' we have a special Bible sudy group or mission club? Why is Pre-Sem Club for 'pre-sems onlv? How can Rev. Haan Dean Ribbens alk abou excellen religious amosphere a Dord College when re are no special Bible sudy groups or mission clubs? As one coninues o hink along se lines, one realizes ha a special Bible sudy group or mission club does no necessarily change apahy o enhusesm: rouine meeings can become a paern conformiy also. Bu, basically, i is person's aiude oward God, chapel. his own devoions ha will deermine his person.al relaionship wih God. 'Furrmore, one realizes ha a special exra-curricular Bible sudy group or mission club is no a necessiy a Dord, for each suden is a Bible suden, each suden is a missionary, each suden serves Chris as prophe, pries. king. Or in or words, all us belong o Bible sudy group or mission club Dord College suden body. he r i I COMING EVENTS I ; Feb. 8-B.B.-Freeman_HulI. Feb. Buz-z-z Buz-z-z The rude rasp an alarm abruply a woke Dar, an Illusrious college suden. Only a shor ime ago I was a perplexed high school suden. _ Convinced ha I ough o coninue my educaion, I was equipped for such a sep wih only negligible funds, conversely, wih grea doubs concerning wha college o aend. Besides "an insiuion wih scholasic qualificaions, I 'was seeking a school ha was founded for God's glory upon Hls Word. A Chrisian banner a warm, friendly amosphere were prerequisies. A college so large ha eachers have no personal conac wih ir pupils, in which mos one's classmaes remain srangers, did no appeal o me. Ye i seemed nearly impossible o find a school ha would mee all se requiremens a same ime be wihin my financial means. Then one summer, during a visi o Iowa, I learned abou Dord College. God had no ignored my needs, nor hose or young Chrisians who were eager o learn, bu paricular abou source qualiy ir insrucion. This Reformed insiuion was answer o my prayers. Today I am a happy college suden. Dord has fulfilled every expecaion deming high-schocler I was; Dord has fered even more good hings. I have no regreed choice ha I made. Whereas I may someimes join ors in advocaing 'his or ha improvemen, as Dord exps maures, I do no cease o hink our college.as God's gracious provision for needs Chrisian young people like me.
