The graduaion ceremony will begin promply a 8:45 a.m. and i is expeced o las approximaely wo hours. We anicipae here could be as many as 800 undergraduae and graduae sudens paricipaing in he 2018 Commencemen Ceremony, including hose who compleed heir requiremens in Augus and December 2017, as well as sudens who applied for May 2018 graduaion. The Commencemen Ceremony will be held a Bowman Gray Sadium wih graduaes and faculy seaed on he field. Guess will be seaed in he sands. As in previous years, we ask ha sudens RSVP o help us deermine he number of graduaes o expec for Commencemen. Eligible sudens who will no be paricipaing in Commencemen should also respond o he survey and indicae ha hey will no be aending. Please be sure o include your banner ID on he subjec line of all Commencemen-relaed correspondence. The Commencemen speaker his year will be Byron Pis. Known for his hough-provoking coverage and his commimen o excepional soryelling, Byron Pis is a muliple Emmy award winning journalis and is a co-anchor of ABC s Nighline. In 2013, Pis became an anchor and he Chief Naional Corresponden a ABC. Prior o working for ABC, Pis was he Chief Naional Corresponden for CBS Evening News Wih Kaie Couric. He was also CBS lead corresponden a Ground Zero immediaely following he Sepember 11h aacks and won an Emmy for his coverage. Pis aended Ohio Wesleyan Universiy. Wih he help of his roommae and a college professor, Pis found he suppor and encouragemen necessary o pursue a career in broadcas journalism a field ha demands excellence in wriing and speaking. By saying focused, seing simple and achievable goals and finding srengh in faih, Pis overcame powerful odds. He graduaed in 1982 wih a BA in Journalism and Speech Communicaion. Pis lives Weehawken, N.J. Inclemen weaher is always a possibiliy so arrangemens have been made o move Commencemen o Lawrence Joel Veerans Memorial Coliseum if necessary. GRADUATES INFORMATION Graduaion Degree Requiremens include a suden having me all academic requiremens (summer 2017, fall 2017 or spring 2018) and no have any pending charges, acive suspensions or dismissals by he Suden Honor Cour.

3 The graduaion fee of $50 is auomaically charged o suden accouns. Graduaes mus clear wih he Suden Accouns Office, 200 Thompson Cener by Friday, May 11, o make sure here are no ousanding charges. Sudens also need o check wih Campus Police and he O Kelly Library o clear any ousanding fines or debs. Commencemen rehearsal will be held on Thursday, May 17, and aendance is mandaory for all graduaes paricipaion in he ceremony. Rehearsal will from noon unil 4 p.m. a Bowman Gray Sadium, weaher permiing. Rain sie will be he Lawrence Joel Veerans Memorial Coliseum. The schedule for rehearsals will be: Ars and Sciences undergraduaes a noon Business and Educaion undergraduaes a 1 p.m. Healh Sciences undergraduaes a 2 p.m. Graduae programs a 3 p.m. All graduaes should bring heir caps and assels o rehearsal and docoral candidaes should also bring heir hoods. Parking for rehearsal will be available in he Souh and Eas Los beginning a noon (see sadium map for locaion). 4 Sudens paricipaing in he Commencemen processional should begin arriving by 6:30 a.m. Since raffic will be heavy, please leave enough ime o park and ake a shule o he saging area which will be in he norh parking lo adjacen o he field house. The processional will begin promply a 8:45 a.m. SPECIAL NOTE: Since graduaes will be seaed on he grassy field, please do no wear high-heeled shoes. Flas, wedges and low heels are accepable. Honor cord pick up will be Monday, May 14, 2018 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 12 p.m. - 7 p.m. in he Chancellor s Privae Dining Hall, Anderson Cener. Pick up will be Thursday, May 18, 2017 before rehearsal from 10 a.m p.m. a he Bowman Gray Fieldhouse and afer rehearsal from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Cords will be available for pick up Friday, May 19, 2017 from 6 a.m. - 7 a.m. a he sadium. The Honors designaion in he Commencemen program will be based on he cumulaive GPA earned by Fall Semeser Miliary Honor Cords are available for graduaes who were honorably discharged U.S. veerans, are currenly serving in he miliary (acive duy, Naional Guard or Reserves), or are an ROTC suden commissioning upon graduaion as a way for he universiy o honor heir service. The Miliary Honor cord pick up will be he same as honor cord pick up imes ancaions. Graduaes will need o bring a WSSU ID card and eiher a copy of heir DD-214 or a valid miliary idenificaion card. Informaion on pre-graduaion evens may be found in he schedule on he las page. Diploma disribuion will be following he ceremony behind he Field House a Bowman Gray Sadium. No diplomas will be disribued before he official end of he commencemen and he processional has lef he venue. All graduaes are asked o remain seaed unil he end of he ceremony. Diplomas ha are no picked up afer Commencemen will be sen cerified mail o he address provided on he graduaion applicaion. An official phoographer will be on sie. Gradimages will be aking phoographs of all graduaes a he Commencemen Ceremony. They will be locaed on he field as you exi he sage. FACULTY INFORMATION Faculy regalia, including cap and hood, is required for paricipaion in he Commencemen Ceremony. If you need o order academic regalia, please visi he Herff Jones websie o place your order. Normal delivery for online orders is six weeks, so you may need o use express delivery which can ake 10 business days. Faculy parking will be in Los BB, CC, DD, VC, Q, Y and Z wih shule service o he sadium field house. There will be handicapped parking in he sadium s Souh Lo and handicapped seaing on he wo paios adjacen o he press box on he wes side of he sadium on a firs-come, firsserved basis. One gues will be allowed o si wih a wheelchair siing person. The op wo rows of he enire sadium will also be reserved for hose guess wih mobiliy issues. A limied number of wheelchairs will be available for free checkou wih valid idenificaion. There will be an inerpreer on sage for he hearing impaired. The inerpreer will be visible on he large screens. The concession sands on he sadium concourse will be open for sof drink and waer service only. Guess will be allowed o bring sadium seas, bu coolers and backpacks are prohibied. Guess will be permied o bring in unopened boled waer.
