1 ALL MAJORS WINTER 2017 CAREER FAIR GUIDE #HIREAVIK
2 Welcome to the Winter 2017 All Majors Career & Internship Fair! Representatives from outstanding organizations are looking forward to providing you with information about available positions, careers, and internships. Enclosed you will find a list of organizations in attendance as well as their location in the ballroom. For more information about these organizations, please visit bit.ly/psucareerfairs This fair is organized by ADVISING & CAREER SERVICES Advising & Career Services (ACS) is responsible for the career development needs of all PSU students and alumni and provides academic advising for students who are exploring majors, i.e., those who are undecided/undeclared or who are considering a change of major. We offer drop-in hours and appointments daily. Visit for more information. Show us your career game face! Give employers a shoutout! Ask us any questions or give us feedback! #HIREAVIK
3 MAKING THE MOST OF CAREER FAIRS Where to start Take a moment to review the list of employers present at the fair to identify which organizations are of the greatest interest to you. Ask questions If you are a senior actively seeking a job, you might ask: I will be graduating next June and I m seeking a job as a manager. How would I apply to your organization? If you are a sophomore and unsure of your career goals, you might ask: I m interested in your organization. What positions do you typically have available for liberal arts students? Other potential questions: What types of skills do you look for? What are some typical entry-level positions? Do you have internships available? What is your hiring process? What employers are looking to do Provide information about their organizations. Recruit for current and/or anticipated openings. Promote their organizations. Helpful hints Try to speak with representatives rather than just picking up their literature and walking away. If the employer asks you to send a resume or call them, be sure to get their address and/or phone number. Ask for a business card. If you approach a table and there are several people waiting in line to talk with a representative, prepare a few questions while you wait.
