All schools currently offer 2 day Junior Kindergarten and 3 day Senior Kindergarten, with pilot programs for both full-time Junior Kindergarten (new this fall) and full-time Senior Kindergarten programs. Early Learning Program Through the recently introduced provincial Early Learning Program, students attending five Lakehead Public Schools sites will have the opportunity to attend full-time Junior and Senior Kindergarten. During Phase 1, the following sites will offer the program beginning in September 2010: Algonquin Avenue Public School McKellar Park Public School Sherbrooke Public School Vance Chapman Public School Westmount Public School * Before and after school programs available at a fee for parents. 5 Lakehead Adult Education LAEC PLAR for Mature Students ASSESSMENTS HIGH SCHOOL CREDITS LANGUAGE LEARNING COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition A process is used to evaluate learning received outside the education system including Grade 9 and Grade 10 assessments of English, Math, Science, History, and Geography. Recognition of learning outside of school can be given for some Grade 11 and Grade 12 credits. If you are 18 or over, have been out of school for at least a year, and have few Grade 9 and Grade 10 credits, this may be the way for you to get ahead. Ask about a new classroom program that provides students with support while they work through the PLAR process. Daily In-class support is available, Monday - Friday 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Come in and ask about the PLAR process you can succeed! Maturity Evaluations Get credit for your experience outside of school! Assessments are provided for students who entered high school before See our Intake Counsellor for more information. Credits for Your High School Diploma Refer to the schedule received at registration for the times that teachers are available. Student Fee: $30 (non-refundable) Book Deposit: $30 (refundable) - exception: $50 for courses that require a text book.
