Our volunteers are instrumental in getting them over the finish line by providing coaching, and they are a crucial part of the classroom competition, where they act as judges.

2 Volunteers needed to mentor students working on business plans and judge competitions! Across the Bay Area, nearly 1,000 NFTE students are working on their business plans and getting ready for their classroom business plan competitions. Our volunteers are instrumental in getting them over the finish line by providing coaching, and they are a crucial part of the classroom competition, where they act as judges. Volunteers are needed throughout the Bay Area - see dates/locations below. Judges ask the competitors follow up questions and decide who from the classroom advances to the regional competition. 3 Junior Achievement (JA) partners with the business community, educators and volunteers to help children dream big and reach their potential. JA s hands-on, experiential programs teach the key concepts of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy to students around the world. Junior Achievement of Northern California, a member of Junior Achievement USA, will serve more than 111,000 students across 23 counties in Northern and Central California in the school year. JA programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities. Volunteers receive training (45 minutes by phone/online) and use JA curriculum to teach a variety of subjects including global economics, personal finance, entrepreneurship and more. 4 April is Financial Literacy Month! Volunteers needed to help high school seniors review their college budgets! Empowering students to succeed in college and life The GLOW Foundation works to improve college access and success for under-served students by making college more affordable. GLOW trains schools and nonprofits to deliver best-in-class, ready to deploy programs to students and families that address financial readiness, budgeting, cost of college, and financial aid. Students receive interactive, student-driven, and high-quality workshops to put them on the path to and through college. Volunteers are needed to work with college-bound high school seniors who are preparing their college budgets. They have been working all semester to create a budget for their first year of college, and with your help they can perfect those budgets before they head off to college this fall. The 1-2 hour sessions are a time for you to share your college experience and help a student anticipate and navigate college expenses.you do not have to be a financial aid expert, just willing to share your experiences with these amazing students! No training required (although we have some optional webinars if you d like a preview of what to expect)! Our guidebooks will walk you through step-by-step, and you ll be helping the seniors get one step closer to successfully going to college. 5 Volunteers needed to participate in panel presentation for high school students on April 18, 2014 at International Studies School, 655 DeHaro Street, San Francisco Speakers are needed to be on a panel (4 panels total) and will participate for a little more than hour. The times of the panels are: 9:30-10:30 and 10:30-11:30 (2 panels each hour). The goal of the speaker panels are to expose students to a variety to careers in finance and business and non-profit finance related work. The speakers will provide one paragraph biographies (which we will share with students) and will receive questions in advance.
