Big 12 Players of the Week A Big 12 offensive, defensive and special teams player of the week will be announced each Monday, except for the first week of the season when the announcement will be made on Tuesday. Nominees are forwarded by each institution s media relations department and selected by a panel of media voters who cover the league on a regular basis. Postseason Awards Big 12 postseason football awards will be announced at the conclusion of regular season play. BCS Sightings The 2010 season marked the Conference s 18th BCS game in the 13-year history of the structure. The Big 12 is 8-10 all-time in BCS games and has advanced two teams in the same season fi ve times (2001, 03, 04, 07, 08). Television Partners ABC begins its 16th season as the Conference s national network television partner. The Big 12 also continues its long-standing relationship with FOX Sports for its cable rights after a new 13-year agreement that will take effect in Television Selections Television selections will be announced on either a 12-day or six-day advance by the Conference offi ce. The 12-day advances will be released on Mondays while the six-day will be available on Sunday s prior to that week s games. Home Win Streaks Oklahoma extended its nation-leading home win streak to 37 games. The Sooners next home date is against Missouri on Sept. 24. In addition, the broadcasts will give fans a unique look into the workings of the Big 12 Conference itself - including television, bowl games, scheduling and more - along with interviews with the Commissioner and other selected Big 12 staff. Austin This Week: Rice Next Week: Kansas State In its shutout win over SFA, Baylor held an opponent scoreless at home for the fi rst time since Oct. 26, 1985, when the 13th-ranked Bears defeated TCU, The Bears have won six straight non-conference home games. QB Robert Griffi n III has completed 83.7 percent of his passes (41- of-49) this season and has thrown as many touchdowns (eight) as incomplete passes (eight) in two games. With 123 yards of receving on eight catches against SFA, WR Kendall Wright became BU s all-time leader in receving yards (2,653). Baylor seeks its fi rst 3-0 start since 2005 in just its third series meeting against Rice since the Southwest Conference disbanded in The Bears have won fi ve straight against the Owls, inlcluding last season s win in Houston. KANSAS (2-1, 0-0) Last Week: L, vs. Georgia Tech This Week: Open Next Week: Texas Tech Kansas is tied for fi rst in the Big 12 with a perfect 13-for-13 mark in red zone offense. The Jayhawks have 11 touchdowns (eight rushing and three passing) and two fi eld goals in their trips insde the 20-yard line this season. KU went 7-for-10 on third downs in the fi rst half against Georgia Tech, after going 13-for-18 on third down against Northern Illinois. The Jayhawks fi nished Saturday s contest 9-of-17 on third down. They are currently third in the Conference with a 57.4 conversion rate on third down. Against Georgia Tech, WR D.J. Beshears recorded a 43-yard catch late in the fi rst half, marking his longest career reception. Beshears recorded 65 yards receiving on fi ve catches to lead the Jayhawks for the second consecutive week. He currently leads the Big 12 with all-purpose yards per game, including 387 kick return yards. MISSOURI (2-1, 0-0) Last Week: W 69-0 vs. Western Illinois This Week: at No. 1 Oklahoma Next Week: Open IOWA STATE (3-0, 0-0) Last Week: W, vs. Connecticut This Week: Open Next Week: Texas Iowa State is 3-0 for the fi rst time since They Cyclones have trailed in the fourth quarter in each game this season, but have rallied to win each by a combined winning margin of nine points. Against Conneticut, WR Darius Reynolds tallied a career-high 128 receiving yards. It was the most receiving yards by a Cyclone since Oct. 25, 2008 (R.J. Sumrall, 143 yards vs. Texas A&M). Linebacker Jake Knott had 11 tackles against UCONN to record his 10th career double-digit tackle game. He leads the Big 12 with 33 stops through three games. ISU is 5-for-5 in fourth down conversions this season. That is the most converted by any Big 12 team this year and the 100 percent conversion rate is tied for the best mark in the league. KANSAS STATE (2-0, 0-0) Last Week: W, 37-0 vs. Kent State This Week: Miami (Fla.) Next Week: Baylor Kansas State held Kent State off the scoreboard to tally its fi rst shutout since Sept. 9, 2006 against Florida Atlantic (45-0). The Wildcats are now 59-3 (.952) in their last 62 non-conference games at home. Quarterback Collin Klein made his sixth career start. He fi nished 9-of- 18 for 74 yards passing and a touchdown, while racking up 139 yards rushing including a pair of touchdown runs. It was Klein s third career 100-yard rushing effort and fi rst this season. K-State will face Miami for the first-time on Saturday. In non-conference regular season road games under Bill Snyder the Wildcats have won eight of their last 10. The Kansas State defense leads the nation in three defensive categories (scoring defense, pass effi ciency defense and total defense), while ranking second in pass defense and eighth in rushing defense. OKLAHOMA (2-0, 0-0) Last Week: W, vs. No. 5 Florida State This Week: Missouri Next Week: Ball State In the shutout win, Missouri broke its single-game record for total yardage. The Tigers racked up 744 yards, eclipsing the 665 yards it recorded versus Kansas in Missouri gave up just 44 yards to WIU, which is the third-lowest total in school history. Mizzou held Alabama to 23 yards in 1968 and limited Kansas State to 18 yards in Quarterback James Franklin threw for 246 yards and three scores. Over his last two games, Franklin is a combined 44-of-67 for 565 yards, fi ve TDs and no interceptions. Running back Henry Josey ran for a career high 263 yards, 129 of which came in the fi rst quarter. His 263 yards are fourth in school history and the most since Tony Temple had 281 rushing yards in the 2008 Cotton Bowl against Arkansas. Oklahoma opens conference play against Missouri with a lead in all games and a 4-2 advantage in Big 12 contests. MU won last year s contest in Columbia. Finishing with 199 yards at Florida State, Landry Jones is now OU s alltime passing leader with a total of 8,490 career yards. Jones surpassed Sam Bradford s previous record of 8,403 yards. Travis Lewis played his fi rst game of the season after sitting out due to a toe injury. Lewis tallied eight tackles to give him 370 for his career. He now ranks eighth on OU s all-time tackles chart. With seven catches Saturday night, Ryan Broyles extended his streak of receptions to 41 straight games.

4 Big 12 Football September 20, Week 4 Page 4 OKLAHOMA STATE (3-0, 0-0) Last Week: W, vs. Tulsa This Week: at No. 8 Texas A&M Next Week: Open Coach Mike Gundy recorded his 50th win (in his 79th game), making him just the third coach in OSU history to conquer the feat. Only Jim Lookabaugh ( ) and Gundy s college coach, Pat Jones ( ) have also eclipsed the 50-win mark at OSU. Justin Blackmon had a four-yard touchdown catch, but fi nished with just 57 yards receiving, ending his NCAA record of consecutive games with 100 yards receiving at 14. The Cowboys open conference play for the fourth-straight year against Texas A&M. OSU is riding a three-game winning streak over the Aggies. Oklahoma State ranks third in the NCAA for longest active road win streaks (6). Gundy s squad has won 10 of their last 11 road games. TEXAS A&M (2-0, 0-0) Last Week: W, 37-7 vs. Idaho This Week: No. 6/7 Oklahoma State Next Week: Arkansas The Aggie defense held its opponent to under 200 yards of offense for the fi rst time since the 2004 season. Junior Ryan Swope became the 10th Aggie to hit the 100-catch, 1,000- yard receiving plateau for his career. He joins teammates Jeff Fuller and Ryan Tannehill in the exclusive group. Tony Jerod-Eddie ranks second nationally for sacks, averaging 1.5 per game, while the Aggies 5.5 sacks per game holds the number one spot in the nation. Running back Cyrus Gray fi nished with 101 yards rushing on 29 carries and 58 yards receiving on five catches. He has nine consecutive games with 100 yards rushing and needs just one more to tie the school record. TEXAS (3-0, 0-0) Last Week: W, vs. UCLA This Week: Open Next Week: Iowa State This is the fi fth consecutive year the Longhorns have started out the season 3-0. Dating back to last season, Texas has not allowed a point in the fourth quarter of its last seven games. In his fi rst start, freshman Malcolm Brown had career highs in rushing attempts (22) and yards (110). He became the fi rst true freshman running back to rush for at least 100 yards since Jamaal Charles in Junior D.J. Grant recorded a career-best three touchdown receptions. That tied the school single-game record for TD catches by a tight end. Grant also posted career highs for receptions (six) and yards (77). TEXAS TECH (2-0, 0-0) Last Week: W, vs. New Mexico This Week: Nevada Next Week: Kansas Junior quarterback Seth Doege set an NCAA record against New Mexico as he completed a career-high 40-of-44 passes for 401 yards and fi ve touchdowns. Doege had more touchdown passes (5) than incompletions. Tuberville s team ranks third nationally for total offense with 1,129 total yards, averaging yards per game. Texas Tech now has at least one touchdown pass in 85 of the last 86 games played, dating back to the 2004 season. The Red Raiders set a team NCAA completions record Saturday as three players combined to complete 45-of-50 passes.
