Missouri Valley Football has a total of 44 victories against FBS schools since 1985, including at least one every year from 1996 through Schools have won games against FBS opponents in back-to-back seasons 11 different times: UNI ( ); Youngstown State ( ); UNI ( ); Western Illinois ( ); Western Illinois ( ); Southern Illinois ( ); North Dakota State ( ); and Western Illinois ( ). In the first year of the Challenge Series, a total of nine teams representing the two leagues highlighted the STATS FCS top-25 pre-season rankings. All eight matchups featured at least one team that was a pre-season top-25 squad, and in two of those matchups both teams were ranked in the preseason top-25 poll. Only regular-season contests counted in the series standings.
