The league completed the regular season non-conference schedule with a (.792) record. For the third time in conference history, all 12 teams finished regular season non-conference games with a.500 or better mark. It also occurred in 2002 and The Big 12 has six teams ranked in national polls this week for the fi rst time since the Sept. 7, 2003 coaches poll and the Sept. 22, 2002 AP edition. Oklahoma State entered the rankings this week to join top-ranked Oklahoma along with Missouri, Texas, Texas Tech and Kansas. This marks the 10th time the Big 12 has had six teams in the AP Top 25 and the ninth time of placing six teams in the coaches ratings. Big 12 teams combined to total 102 points in this week s media poll and 101 points in the coaches poll (rankings are based on 25 points for a No. 1 spot, 24 points for No. 2, etc.) The previous conference best was 84 points in the 1996 preseason media poll and the Sept. 7, 2003 coaches poll. The Big 12 last had a No. 1 rated team when Missouri took over the top spot in the Harris, AP and BCS polls on Nov. 25, Three teams are ranked in the Top 5 for the fi rst time since Nov. 18, The Big 12 had a four-week stretch from Oct. 28-Nov. 18, 2001 in which Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas were all listed among the Top 5. The Sept. 28, 2008 top fi ve includes Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas. Big 12 quarterbacks continue to dominate NCAA passing efficiency with nine in the Top 20 and four of the top fi ve: 2. The calls are also available live and archived on the Big 12 web site at: Big 12 Launches Redesigned Web Site A completely redesigned debuted on August 1, The updated web presence was launched by the league in conjunction with JumpTV Sports, the conference s new internet provider. The site features numerous enhancements, including a broadband video channel along with new interactive and e-commerce opportunities. Video highlights from many Big 12 contests will be featured, with various games and championships streamed live via the site each season. CollegePressBox.com The offi cial media site for Big 12 football will provide one-stop access to updated contact information, media guides, game notes, game books, quotes, links and more for each of the conference s 12 schools and the conference offi ce. Media should contact Big 12 Communications for a user name and password. 13th Annual Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship For the fifth time in league history the Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship game will be held in Kansas City. The 2008 game takes place on Saturday, December 6, at Arrowhead Stadium. Previous Big 12 Championship games staged in Kansas City were in 2000 (79,665), 2003 (79,451), 2004 (62,130) and 2006 (80,031). In 2008, the South representative will be the home team and utilize the sideline on the press box side of the fi eld. General public tickets are priced at $85, $75, $65 and $55, plus handling fees. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com or (800) in addition to in-person at Arrowhead Stadium. Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship Winners In the 12-year history of the event, there have been six different winners. All-time titlists include Texas (1996, 2005), Nebraska (1997, 1999), Texas A&M (1998), Oklahoma (2000, 2002, 2004,2006, 2007), Colorado (2001) and Kansas State (2003). Attendance Attendance in the Big 12 surpassed 4.6 million fans the past two seasons, including 4,652,267 in Stadiums in the Big 12 were fi lled to 96.6 percent of capacity last year, the ninth straight year over 90 percent. Average attendance in 2007 was 60,419, the highest in league history and fi rst time to average over 60,000. Kansas is fourth with 12 consecutive victories at home while Missouri is tied for fi fth with 10. Non-Conference Schedule The non-conference portion of the 2008 Big 12 schedule featured five tilts against teams that were ranked in the preseason Top 25 polls. Fourteen of the 48 non-conference games were against teams that played in a bowl game last season. The league has compiled a (.710) nonconference record since 1996 and is in Big 12 Media Preseason Poll Media covering the conference have correctly predicted the division champions in four of the last six seasons (OU/NU-06, UT/CU-05; OU/KSU-03, CU/OU-02). Iowa State Baylor Satellite Radio The Big 12 has partnered with XM Satellite Radio for the broadcast of select football games, men s and women s basketball games, plus the Dr Pepper football championship and Phillips 66 basketball tournaments. Each of the league s institutions also have satellite radio agreements in place this football season. Television Partners ABC is in its 13th season as the conference s national network television partner. The Big 12 also continues its long-standing relationship with FSN for its cable rights. FSN has sublicensed select television games in 2008 to ESPN and Versus.

3 Big 12 Football September 29, 2008 Week 6 Release Page 3 BAYLOR (2-2, 0-0) This Week: Oklahoma Next Week: Iowa State Baylor has rushed for 100-plus yards in three straight games for the fi rst time since a fi ve-game run to open the 2005 season. LB Joe Pawelek recorded 10 tackle assists against UConn and has a career mark of 136, tying James Francis ( ) for ninth on Baylor s all-time list. With 13 total tackles, he also posted the ninth double-digit tackle game of his career, including in all four games this season. WR Kendall Wright established career highs with six receptions and 114 receiving yards. He also recorded his fi rst career touchdown reception. TE Justin Akers caught two touchdown passes for the second time in his career (Rice, 2007). IOWA STATE (2-2, 0-0) This Week: Kansas Next Week: at Baylor COLORADO (3-1, 0-0) This Week: Texas Next Week: at Kansas Colorado scored in its 239th consecutive game against Florida State, adding to the fourth longest active streak in the nation and the ninth longest of all-time. QB Cody Hawkins moved into 11th place all-time on CU s total offense list (3,477 yards) and now has 28 career touchdown passes. Rodney Stewart rushed for his second straight 100-yard game and the 20th by a freshman (true or redshirt) in CU history. He is tied with fi ve others with two 100-yard games as a freshman. CU s fi rst score in each of its last three games has been touchdown passes from Cody Hawkins to Josh Smith. KANSAS (3-1, 0-0) This Week: at Iowa State Next Week: Colorado Iowa State played the fi rst overtime game of Gene Chizik s career after coming back from a 21-point halftime defi cit to force the extra period vs. UNLV. QB Austen Arnaud rushed for a career-high 51 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries at UNLV. He also went 13-of-23 for 155 yards and two TDs through the air. The Cyclone offense didn t commit a turnover against the Rebels, giving ISU a +6 turnover margin for the season. The ISU defense has forced 13 turnovers through four games which is tied for eighth nationally, and fi ve shy of its 2007 season total. KANSAS STATE (3-1, 0-0) This Week: Texas Tech Next Week: at Texas A&M KU s home win streak is at 12 games, the fourth-longest streak in the nation. QB Todd Reesing has three-straight games of 350-plus passing yards. He holds the school record for most 200-yard passing games with 14 for his career, including all four games this season. Kansas defense allowed a season-low 45 rushing yards on 16 attempts against Sam Houston State. The Jayhawks are 12th nationally in total offense (473 ypg) and sixth in passing offense (354.0 ypg). Kerry Meier leads the country in receptions per game (9.25). MISSOURI (4-0, 0-0) This Week: at Nebraska Next Week: Oklahoma State Kansas State has won 100 games at Bill Snyder Family Stadium since the 1990 season. Over the last 18 years, KSU owns a 52-3 (.945) record against non-conference opponents at home. QB Josh Freeman became the K-State leader for career passing yards with 6,238, and is the second player to record 6,000 yards passing for his career. Sophomore Lamark Brown made his debut at running back with 29 carries for 142 yards and his fi rst career rushing touchdown. It was the second 100-yard rushing performance for the Wildcats this season. Ian Campbell registered his second sack of the season and 10 total tackles. He has 18 career sacks to rank tied for seventh in school history. Kansas State has scored in 144 consecutive games, extending the school record and improving on the nation s 12th longest streak. QB Chase Daniel set a career high with 439 passing yards vs. Buffalo and completed 36-of-43 passing attempts. His 83.7 completion percentage is the highest in school history. Daniel set a Big 12 single game record with 20 consecutive completions. He is the fifth player in conference history to amass 10,000 career yards of total offense. He now has 10,356 yards in total offense with 9,592 yards passing and 764 yards rushing. MU s defense held UB to 49 rushing yards on 35 attempts after the team had previously averaged 163 rushing yards per contest. Daniel was named Sept. 22 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week while Sean Weatherspoon got the nod for Defensive Player of the Week.

4 Big 12 Football September 29, 2008 Week 6 Release Page 4 NEBRASKA (3-1, 0-0) This Week: Missouri Next Week: at Texas Tech OKLAHOMA (4-0, 0-0) This Week: at Baylor Next Week: vs. Texas Senior receiver Nate Swift s 88-yard punt return for a touchdown vs. Virginia Tech was the fourth-longest punt return in school history and earned him Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week. Nebraska has now returned a punt, kickoff and interception for a touchdown this season. Joe Ganz moved up three spots to 10th on the Nebraska career passing list. He now has 2,700 and is 148 yards from eighth place (Jammal Lord, 2,848 yards). Saturday s attendance of 85,831 is a Memorial Stadium record, bettering the crowd of 85,800 against Colorado in It also marked the 293rd consecutive sellout at Memorial Stadium. OKLAHOMA STATE (4-0, 0-0) This Week: Texas A&M Next Week: at Missouri OSU is 14-3 in non-conference games under head coach Mike Gundy. The win over Troy was OSU s fi fth in a row dating back to last season, marking the Cowboys longest winning streak since Saturday s attendance of 52,463 was the largest home crowd in OSU football history. The previous high (51,416) came against Oklahoma in For the fi rst time since the 2004 football season, OSU is listed among the top 25 teams in the country in all three polls. Sophomore Kendall Hunter rushed for 169 yards vs. Troy and has six 100-yard rushing games in his OSU career. He has topped the century mark in each of the Cowboys four games this season. TEXAS A&M (2-2, 0-0) This Week: at Oklahoma State Next Week: Kansas State Oklahoma s No. 1 national ranking on Sept. 28 set AP poll history as the Sooners have now held the top spot more times than any other team at 96 weeks. Oklahoma s victory over TCU was its nation-leading 21st-straight home win, which ties for second-longest in program history and the longest under 10th-year head coach Bob Stoops. Sam Bradford threw for a career-best 411 yards, the third-most by a Sooner quarterback. He is only the second Sooner to throw for over 400 yards in a game. Manual Johnson set a school record with 206 receiving yards on just fi ve receptions and scored three touchdowns (79, 55 and 63 yards) to be named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week. TEXAS (4-0, 0-0) This Week: at Colorado Next Week: vs. Oklahoma Texas has produced at least 400 yards of total offense in 63 of its last 94 games. The Longhorns are 84-2 when recording more than 400 yards of total offense in the Mack Brown era. The Longhorns set a single-game school record by completing 91.3% (21-of-23) of their pass attempts (10 or more attempts). UT s defense has held an opponent to under 20 rushing yards 18 times and to under 200 yards of total offense on 28 occasions since QB Colt McCoy rushed and passed for a TD for the third time in four games, and the sixth time in his career. He has 573 career pass completions, passing Peter Gardere (561) for second all-time at UT. Quan Cosby became the second UT player to amass 1,500 receiving yards and 1,500 kickoff return yards in a career. He has 1,820 career receiving yards and 1,500 kickoff return yards. TEXAS TECH (4-0, 0-0) This Week: at Kansas State Next Week: Nebraska Paul Freeney s 58-yard fumble return marked the Aggies second defensive touchdown on the year, and was the longest fumble return by A&M since Army was 1-of-5 passing for just four yards against the Aggie defense. The last time A&M allowed fewer completions, attempts and yards was against Arkansas in Two true freshmen made their presence felt in the A&M win. Trent Hunter totaled 17 tackles in his fi rst career start, including 11 solo hits. He was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week. Cyrus Gray had a career-high 61 yards on six carries, and added 47 kickoff return yards on two tries. With 12,225 career passing yards, QB Graham Harrell needs 205 to eclipse Kliff Kingsbury s ( ) conference and school record of 12,429 yards. Harrell is one of seven players in NCAA history to complete more than 100 touchdown passes in a career. He currently has 101. Harrell currently leads the nation in six categories - total offensive plays, total offensive yards, pass attempts, passing yards, pass completions and passing touchdowns. He is also the current conference leader in passing touchdowns with his 101. Tech is first nationally in passing offense (426.3) and third in total offense (572.75).
