2 V. Commendations 1. Ryan Eckart, Principal at Jane Ball Elementary School enjoys sharing the good news about the students and teachers with whom he works. In February, Ryan presented at the National ESEA Conference (formerly Title 1) and he ll present on the same topic, 21 Keys to Positive School Culture & Student Success, in July at the National Principals Conference. His session focuses on successful techniques that he has implemented at multiple schools to build a positive school climate and culture. 2. We are excited to share that the Hanover Central Middle School has been recognized as a PLTW Distinguished School for their commitment in increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in the PLTW program. Commendations to our PLTW Teacher, Carrie Dwyer, for her leadership and hard work in implementing this amazing program. PLTW stands for Project Lead the Way. HCMS began offering PLTW in 2016, and today, 90 percent of our students participate in the program, which inspires and engages students in science, technology, engineering, and math. 3. Commendations to the Jane Ball 4 th Grade Teaching Team: Kayla Bulthuis, Ryanne DiCola, Breanne Castle and Caryn Morales. This team has implemented an engaging high-energy learning environment that leaves students asking for more. They have done this by creating a mystery or special task for students to complete as they learn standards and objectives that are determined by the teacher. 4. Commendations to our Hanover students who participated in the Northern Illinois Hockey League for the Midwest Blackbirds. Bantam AA Division Players: Tyler Philipp Defense; Ryan Bender Offense & Defense; and Ryan York Goalie. They had 11 wins and 7 losses for the season, placing 4 th out of 11 teams, then went on to be the Champions of the Blackhawks Tournament with a 3-2 victory! Bantam A Division Players: Mitchell Philipp Goalie; and Jackson Giacolona Offense & Defense. Their team had a record of 15 wins and 2 losses, securing 1 st Place and Presidents Cup Champions for the season. They went on to be Champion of the Blackhawks Tournament as well as the Champions of the Fire Bird Tournament in St. Louis in November. Both teams have banners proudly displayed at the Midwest Ice Arena to show these accomplishments. Page 2

3 5. Commendation to Curtis Propst, a Junior at Covenant Christian School in DeMotte, IN. Curtis worked to enhance the Nature Trail at Lincoln Elementary School over spring break as part of his Eagle Scout Project for Troop 101. Over 4 loads of mulch were spread onto the trail by Curtis and several of other scouts and it looks amazing. VI. Between the Lines Driving School requests the use of one classroom at Hanover Central High School starting weekdays only, July 8, 2019 through July 19, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. for driver s education classes. It is understood that in-school activities will take precedence with the use of the facilities. Current liability insurance is in effect and on file at the administration office. 2. Industrial Dance Project requests the use of the Hanover High School Auditorium on Friday, June 21, 2019, from 12:00 noon to 8:30 p.m. for their year-end recital dance.
