Opening Procedures A. Call to Order: The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the University Preparation School at CSU Channel Islands was called to order by Carolyn Bernal at 1:34pm B. 2 F. Spotlight-Climate Survey, Gayle Hughes Gayle gave a very informative power point presentation on last year s climate survey for UPS/UCMS. G. Directors Report Charmon stated that we had two fabulous college days at CSUCI! Today UPS & last Friday UCMS. Thank you to Veronica & Vanessa at the university it was a great day with many amazing activities. Our last coffee with the Directors had a great turnout, having it at UPS after the Friday assembly really helped. We launched a new communication platform for staff & parents called ParentSquare. We will pilot through the end of the year. It invites parents to join in; we can message through tets or . Gayle stated that UCMS has started a Makers ceived a generous donation of supplies from Google and we have a high school student and his parent volunteering to run the class Monday s from 3:00-4:00. The Renaissance Rally is taking place now, the Dolphin Dance is net Thursday and State testing will starting the following week for students in grades 3-8 H. Board Reports, Correspondence, and Communications Carolyn wanted to thank Charmon & Gayle for the wonderful tour of both campuses. She also encourages all board members to do so. J. Advisory and Auiliary Reports 1. University Charter Schools Education Foundation Seeking new members 2. School Site Council May 10 th is net meeting, we worked on school wide Title 1 3. Parent, Teacher, Student Association Busy getting ready for Staff Appreciation Week, also gearing up for Luau 4. Other None II. Regular Session A. Consent Agenda

Topic/Agenda Item: Review and Approval of February & March Financials for UPS & UCMS Personnel Involved: Irina Castillo Director s Recommendation: The Directors recommend approval of February & March financials for UPS & UCMS. Irina stated that this time of year there are usually very little changes in the financials. A short discussion followed. 4 2. Topic/Agenda Item: Review and Approval of the FY for UPS & UCMS Personnel Involved: Irina Castillo Director s Recommendation: The Directors recommend approval of the FY for UPS & UCMS. Irina stated that the 990 is the same as the audit. A short discussion followed. Moved by Seconed by Cathy Cartwright Carolyn Bernal Catharine Cartwright Howard Hartzfeld 3. Topic/Agenda Item: Ratification of Prop 39 agreement with PVSD for the school year Director s Recommendation: The Directors recommend Ratification of Prop 39 agreement with PVSD for the school year. Charmon stated that this was a very pleasant eperience this year. Prop 39 was approved on April 21 at the PVSD Board Meeting. It is only a one year agreement. A short discussion followed. 5 4. Topic/Agenda Item: Review and Approval of revised Policy #903 Conflict of Interest Director s Recommendation: The Directors recommend approval of revised Policy #903 Conflict of Interest. Charmon stated that the lawyers & County Board of Supervisors. A short discussion followed. Moved by Cathy Cartwright Seconded by Carolyn Bernal Cathrine Cartwright Howard Hartzfeld 5. Topic/Agenda Item: Review and Approval of board candidate application for consideration of board appointment Director s Recommendation: The Directors recommend approval of board candidate application for consideration of board appointment. Charmon stated that the candidate is the CEO President of the Camarillo Boys & Girls Club. A short discussion followed, and this candidate is invited to come to the net meeting. Topic/Agenda Item: Review and Approval of Summer School Program budget 2016 Director s Recommendation: The Directors recommend approval of Summer School Program budget Charmon went over all the summer school handouts A short discussion followed. Topic/Agenda Item: Ratification of commitment to CSUCI New Generation of Educators Initiative Grant proposal Director s Recommendation: The Directors recommend ratification of commitment to CSUCI NGEI grant proposal. Charmon stated that she has been working with CSUCI, to write this grant. stated the grant was submitted this morning and we would be notified by the end of the month. The grant is for $600k over 3 years. A lengthy discussion followed. Moved by Cathy Cartwright Seconded by Carolyn Bernal Cathrine Cartwright Howard Hartzfeld

7 C. Discussion/Information 1. Topic/Agenda Item: LCAP Charmon gave a lengthy update on the budget. 2. Topic/Agenda Item: Every Student Succeeds Act Charmon went over the two documents that were in the backup. 3. Topic/Agenda Item: Personnel Committee Charmon would like to establish an Administrator Committee for the Personnel Committee. Charmon stated that she will send out an to all board members to ask who would like to participate. IV. Board of Directors Announcements/Remarks None VI.
