2 Conference The purpose of the annual WMR Conference is to provide opportunities for AIA members across the region to receive continuing education, to discuss issues and problems facing the region, and to attend the annual WMR Business Meeting of the Council for the election of officers, and representation to the Institute. In addition, the conference provides AIA members and their guests the opportunity to come together to share interests, ideas and experiences and to learn about innovative products, technologies and services vital to their projects. As host of the 2017 WMR Conference, AIA Las Vegas welcomes consultants, vendors, manufacturers and representatives of all affiliated companies to join us in presenting three days of exciting, educational and entertaining programs for the members of the AIA Western Mountain Region. 3 THANK YOU AIA Las Vegas is honored to host this year s Western Mountain Region Conference and to welcome attendees from all over the six-state region Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming and Nevada. The theme of the conference is Learning MORE From Las Vegas New Reflections on Lessons Learned, Inspiration, Practice and Ideas. Forty-five years ago Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown published their astounding research on Las Vegas design. This year we take the time to reflect on the messages and wisdom of that ground-breaking book to refresh our spirits by Learning More from Las Vegas. 7 Event Overview Forty-five years ago, Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown published their astounding research on Las Vegas design. This year we ll take time to reflect on the messages and advice of that ground-breaking book and refresh our spirits by Learning More from Las Vegas - a new reflection on lessons learned, inspiration and ideas. Three full days, October 11-14, 2017, of tangible exposure to 250 attendees from the Western Mountain Region s six states: Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming and Nevada. Sponsors for this half day, 4-hour seminar will receive the benefits listed below and the exclusive ability to attend the sessions. The topics are Sustainable Design in the Desert and Aging in Place.
