If you have not received the lottery return forms, or require bonus lottery books, contact John Evans. QUESTIONS/COMMENTS? CONTACT: John Evans OPC Lottery Survey We have asked for input and viewpoints through an online survey regarding the annual lottery. We kindly ask those who hold stake in the organization, such as; Squadron Sponsoring Committee members, Civilian Volunteers and DND staff, complete the survey and encourage parent of Cadets to complete the survey as well. This very important survey had been developed due to a significant number of the OPC 2016 Business Briefing attendees that have indicated that they favour replacing the lottery as a means of raising funds for both the OPC and the SSC. In short, should we continue conducting an annual lottery or eliminate it? Please carefully read the informational section before answering the survey questions. The survey will be open until the end of September. Begin Survey >> The survey link may also be accessed from the aircadetleague.on.ca website (front page). QUESTIONS/COMMENTS? CONTACT: Michael Hopkins Digital Lottery Posters Coming Soon! Digital lottery posters templates in various sizes will be made available to assist with SSC lottery campaigns. They will be created in Microsoft Word and may be adjusted to display squadron information. Did You Know? The OPC has conducted annual Ontario-wide lottery raffles for almost 50 years; with its very first in 1969.

13 Effective Speaking & Debating We are gearing up for the Effective Speaking and Debating Program set to take place in April It is necessary for the competitions to be run smoothly and fairly and it is also important to present the program at the squadron level so the Air Cadet League provides an ES Handbook every year which is a great resource for reference and guidance. In addition to the ES handbook, other resources include: Neighbouring Squadrons that may want to create a joint program and share resources Relatives of Cadets who have experience in public speaking ; other members of your community - preachers, priests and ministers; school teachers and principals or college professors; lawyers and judges; mayor, city councillors and other politicians; television or radio personalities and the Local Toastmasters Club. League Representatives including Directors and Regional Team Leaders who may have suggestions; as well as the Provincial ES Coordinator TED talks, the National Air Cadet League Website, the ACL Ontario Provincial Committee website, other websites with tips on public speaking. Left Right: At time of photo, WO1 Justin Pymento, FSgt Rebecca Olding, FSgt Michaela Gunn FSgt Rebecca Olding 94 Newmarket Optimist won first place. She chose the topic Environmental Stewardship of Canada s Waters for her prepared speech. WO1 Justin Pymento 110, Scarborough came in second. He delivered a speech on Why the Air Cadet Program is important to Canada. FSgt Michaela Gunn 812, Hanover placed third. She picked the topic Women in Aero-space. FSgt Olding represented Ontario in the National Effective Speaking Competition held in Winnipeg on June 15, More information will be communicated.
