Must have completed high school or plan to complete high school by Spring 2016 with plans to enroll at a non-profit post-secondary institution by fall 2016;Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States; Demonstrated critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA);Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity; Be involved in community service activities; Be younger than 30 years old; be a United States citizen. Masons believe strongly in investing in the education of young people - tens of thousands of dollars a year in scholarships are provided to youth by Masonic Lodges across the state. Washington Masonic Charities partners with the Grand Lodge of Washington to provide scholarships. 3 SCHOLARSHIP: The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship February 28, 2017 REQUIREMENTS: The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS) supports low- and middle-income students pursuing eligible high-demand majors in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) or health care and encourages recipients to work in Washington State once they complete their degrees. Women, ages on 1st April each year, living in a Zonta district/region, or a citizen of a Zonta country, who demonstrate evidence of the following, are eligible to apply. Note that applicants from geographic areas within a Zonta district/region where no clubs are located will be considered and also eligible to apply for the district/region Award. Prescott Scholarship March 1, 2017 REQUIREMENTS: The Washington State School Retirees' Association (WSSRA) invites senior students of our school who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply for the above scholarships. These awards are given to students who wish to have a career in the "field of education". Their degree could be in one of these majors: teacher, counselor, speech therapist, occupational therapist, or psychologist. See SCHOLARSHIP: ACPE (Association of Computer Professionals)-NW Scholarship March 1, 2017 REQUIREMENTS: Available to graduating high school seniors who have been actively involved in the use of technology during their high school careers and are planning to pursue studies in a technology-related field. In order to qualify, you must: currently be a senior at an Oregon or Washington K 12 public or private educational institution; have demonstrated high interest and innovative use of technology during your high school career; have demonstrated some community/school involvement, preferably with a technology focus; plan to pursue studies in a technology-related field to obtain the minimum of a two-year degree; have created a simple website describing their own technology project and including links to evidence for that project (the evidence should be accessible via a standard browser and should not require installation of any additional software; have completed the online Scholarship Application. See SCHOLARSHIP: American Indian Endowed Scholarship March 1, 2017 REQUIREMENTS: The American Indian Endowed Scholarship helps financially needy students with close social and cultural ties to an in-state American Indian community pursue undergraduate and graduate studies. To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria: Have demonstrated financial need based on a completed FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid; be a Washington State resident; intend to enroll full-time as an undergraduate or graduate student at a public or private college or university in Washington State; not pursue a degree in theology; intend to use your education to benefit the American Indian community in-state. 4 SCHOLARSHIP: Simon Youth Community Scholarship March 1, 2017 REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible, applicants must: be a high school senior attending school and living near a Simon mall property or in the surrounding communities (Seattle Premium Outlet Mall at Tulalip, is a Simon property); be a legal U.S. resident; plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school in Fall 2017; demonstrate academic promise and financial need; applicants will be evaluated based on academic promise, financial need, essay response, work experience and community/extracurricular involvement. Eligibility: must currently be enrolled as a senior in a high school or affiliated high school program (including GED program) in the State of Washington; must plan to pursue post-secondary training or educational program leading to a maritime or marine-related career; must submit a letter of support from one teacher. An optional letter of support from a member of the maritime community is encouraged but not required; must have a grade point average of at least 2.5 or an additional letter of recommendation from a second teacher. Applicants will be judged on their academic merit, extra-curricular achievements--both scholastically and in their community--and financial need. Eligibility: 1) Applicant must be accepted, or have an application pending, at an accredited institution of higher learning, public or private and including community colleges; 2) must be a senior-level student at a public or private high school (or home school); 3) must have a composite score of 20 on the ACT or a composite score of 1400 on the SAT if planning to attend a 4-year school; 4) must be a U.S. citizen or have a green card. SCHOLARSHIP: Cancer Unwrapped March 12, 2017 REQUIREMENTS: The goal of the Cancer Unwrapped Teen Writing Contest is to provide teens a place to share their stories, whether it's through their own cancer diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one. 6 SCHOLARSHIP: Merle Kirkley Merit Scholarship or April 21, 2017 REQUIREMENTS: The Merle Kirkley Merit Scholarship Award is a competitive merit-based scholarship program designed to provide financial support for Washington State high school students planning to obtain a post-secondary education. Applicants must demonstrate that their intent is to major, or obtain a certificate in, a field relating to educational facility planning and design. Fields related to educational facility design include (but are not limited to): school planning, architecture, engineering, product services and construction management. See application for details. Hardwick-Creative Writing Scholarship April 28, 2017 REQUIREMENTS: One scholarship in the amount of $1000 will be awarded to one graduating senior from Lake Stevens High School in order to pursue a post-secondary education in creative writing or to pursue further courses, conferences, and/or workshops in creative writing after graduation.
