7 ANPD SCOPE AND STANDARDS OF PRACTICE UPDATE NPD Generalist The NPD generalist is a bachelr s prepared nurse with r withut NPD certificatin OR a graduate level prepared nurse withut NPD certificatin. NPD Specialist The NPD specialist is prepared at the graduate level in nursing r a related field and certified in NPD. If the graduate degree is in a related field, the baccalaureate degree must be in nursing. An NPD specialist may functin as the administratr f an NPD department. The executive leader fr NPD ideally hlds an advanced degree in nursing, is prepared at the dctral level in nursing r educatin, and certified in NPD.

Regulatry Bdies (e.g. Jint Cmmissin/ AAAHC/ AAAASF) 3. CDC/Infectin Cntrl 4. CMS/Medicare/Medicaid 5. State/Federal Regulatins 6. Life Safety Cde Additinally, yur rganizatin will have its wn bylaws, perating prcedures, and strategic initiatives that may require educatin. ASSUME NOTHING! There are many cmmn miscnceptins regarding required educatin. When yu receive an educatinal request, determine whether educatin is required, which regulatry agency requires educatin, and hw ften educatin must be cmpleted.
