2 Welcome P FROM THE APNA RESIDENT Dear Friends and Colleagues: Howdy! The APNA Board and I are excited to present you with the program for the APNA 27th Annual Conference to be held in historic San Antonio, Texas. The theme for my presidency has been Leading Change, Advancing Mental Health, so the conference will highlight psychiatric mental health nursing s role in leading the change to evidence-based care that focuses on prevention and recovery. Conference sessions will describe how our role as advocates for and providers of high quality person-centered care helps to ensure that persons with mental health problems can embrace recovery. In addition to state of the science educational programs for psychiatric nurses of all levels and backgrounds, the conference will abound with fun networking opportunities! This conference will provide you with lots of great information to help you articulate the current science and best practices in psychiatric mental health nursing, which we all need in order to take the lead in advancing mental health. It will offer diverse educational sessions, exciting symposia, provocative interactive panels, information-rich poster presentations, and an exhibit hall with cutting-edge information. And of course there s the opportunity to build enduring relationships with your colleagues (maybe even meet face to face with those you ve gotten to know on the All-Purpose Discussion Forum!).
