2 GENERAL INFORMATION PURPOSE The Greater Northwest Conference is geared towards those involved in pre-hospital care with basic and advanced training, including first responders, emergency medical technicians, firefighters, nurses and law enforcement personnel. REGISTRATION Registration and payment must be received by Friday, September 22, 2017 in order to avoid late fees. Walk-in registrations are accepted, however late fees will apply. Conference materials will be available for pick up Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 pm and each morning. ACCREDITATION All credit hours are approved through Education and certificates will be distributed. A total of 11.0 contact hours will be available. Greater Northwest, in conjunction with Education, has worked diligently to provide a conference schedule that will ensure participants meet 100% of the new national training requirements within a two-year period. Therefore, topics not offered this year will be offered at the 2018 Greater Northwest Conference! See schedule for which topics count towards NCCR requirements. LODGING A block of rooms has been reserved at the Shooting Star Casino & Event Center, which features a pool, restaurant, buffet, lounge, casino and secured parking. The conference rate of $65 per room is available through Friday, September 22, To reserve a room call and refer to BLOCK #141. The Shooting Star Casino is pleased to provide a smoke-free environment throughout the event center and dining areas. REFUS Full refunds will be made only if cancellations are received by Friday, September 22, 2017; substitutions are welcome at any time. Greater Northwest reserves the right to change or alter program contents/scheduling as needed. FUING Funding for this conference is made possible in part through a grant from the RB and sponsorships. He has been providing pre-hospital emergency care, ranging from primary response to critical care transportation by land and air for over 22 years as well as educating future first responders, EMT s, paramedics, nurses and doctors for 21 years. Chris holds bachelor of education degree from the University of Toledo and is currently an annual presenter at local, state, and national and public safety conferences. He is a self-proclaimed sports and movie junkie and enjoys traveling as often as possible throughout the United States. ANN ARENS, MD Dr. Arens is currently a core faculty member at the Hennepin County Center Department of Emergency Medicine. She is an Assistance Professor at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, as well as a Toxicologist for the Minnesota Poison Control Centers. Dr. Arens completed her medical school training at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, and then went on to complete her Emergency Medicine residency at Denver, and subsequently completed a Toxicology Fellowship at the University of California - San Francisco. MEGAN CARLBLOM, MSN, RN, SCRN Megan Carlblom is a Stroke Certified Registered Nurse with experience in emergency department patient care and currently works as the Stroke Program Coordinator at Essentia in Fargo.
