1 Purpose: It is the intention of this to provide a general description of the course, outline the required elements of the course and to lay the foundation for course assessment for the improvement of student learning, as specified by the faculty of Wharton County Junior College, regardless of who teaches the course, the timeframe by which it is instructed, or the instructional method by which the course is delivered. 2 I. Topical Outline: Each offering of this course must include the following topics (be sure to include information regarding lab, practicum, clinical, or other non-lecture instruction). Trauma a. Provide pre-hospital care to the seriously injured trauma patient with proper assessment, aggressive care, and rapid transport to the most appropriate facility. b. Components of trauma systems identify the capabilities of different level of trauma centers and more fully define role of pre-hospital care provider in the trauma system. Course Learning Outcomes Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will: Be able to integrate the pathophysiological assessment findings to formulate a field impression; implement the treatment plan for the trauma patient; and integrate multiple determinates of trauma conditions into clinical care.. Methods of Assessment: Written Exams, scenario assessments, and assessment graphs. Patient care assessments, oral interviews, critical thinking skills, various hands on skills evaluations and decision making. Page 4 of 5

Workbook, Medical Dictionary, 3 Binder, Spiral notebook or similar for classroom notes and clinical site notes, Black pens, - # pencils, Loose-leaf notebook paper for assignments (can be kept in the 3 ring binder) Uniform, Stethoscope, EMT scissors, Penlight, Proof of Physical Exam 3 IV.
