2 Administrative - Master Syllabus I. Topical Outline Each offering of this course must include the following topics (be sure to include information regarding lab, practicum, clinical or other non lecture instruction): Treating mental health alterations; the client who is experiencing an anxiety disorder; the client who is experiencing a mood disorder; the client who is experiencing a personality disorder; the client who is experiencing schizophrenia and/or hallucinations; the client who is experiencing a somatoform disorder; special considerations: abuse and neglect, domestic violence, rape, substance abuse, suicidal ideation; the client who is experiencing an eating disorder; the client who is experiencing a disassociative disorder; the impaired nurse. II. Course Learning Outcomes Course Learning Outcome Method of Assessment Utilize the nursing process in caring for persons experiencing dysfunctional mental health Utilize the concepts and principles of effective communication to establish, maintain, and terminate helping relationships 1 Unit Exam 1 Unit Exam III. Required Text(s), Optional Text(s) and/or Materials to be Supplied by Student. Mental Health/Mental Illness text, Scantron, #2 pencil IV. Suggested Course Maximum - 40 V. List any specific spatial or physical requirements beyond a typical classroom required to teach the course. None VI. Course Requirements/Grading System Describe any course specific requirements such as research papers or reading assignments and the generalized grading format for the course Unit Tests will count as 75% of the final grade. Final Test will count as 25% of the final grade.unit exams missed due to absence or tardiness will be taken upon return to class. Arrangements for late testing must be initiated by the student.
