8 Nutrition, Family and Consumer Sciences Program The Nutrition, Family, and Consumer Sciences (NFCS) program conducts research-based extension and education and performs applied research for individuals, community agencies, associations and non-profit groups to meet clientele needs that promote healthy families and communities in the general disciplinary area of nutrition and family and consumer sciences with an emphasis on: Strategies promoting food literacy, obesity prevention, nutrition and healthy lifestyles Increasing food security through food resource management practices Preventing food borne illness Financial literacy and consumer education
9 NFCS/ YFC Advisors & Specialists: Program Development, Research, & Evaluation Identify/assess critical needs/issues Develop/improve skills to impact change; find solutions Extend critical and latest science-based information Develop grants for research or new programs and/or to complement existing programs Disseminate results through scientific publications, local workshops, through our programs, media, websites, etc. Conduct outreach; advocate; educate Develop educational curriculum

Integrated programming is programming that has interwoven best practices, staff and resources, and program delivery from two or more ANR statewide programs, resulting in the creation of a unified vision, shared goals, consensus-based decisions, and measurable outcomes.

In 57 counties 16,885 volunteers statewide Volunteers contributed 1,331,350 hours 243,145 youth enrolled in 4-H 166 Staff: H Program Representatives and 59 4-H Administrative Staff 20 Academics: 14 4-H Advisors, 4 YFC Advisors, 2 Specialists
21 Master Gardener Mission: To extend research-based knowledge and information on home horticulture, pest management, and sustainable landscape practices to the residents of California and be guided by our core values and strategic initiatives.
