1 First Capital Federal Credit Union Scholarship Program In Honor of Dennis Flickinger In the spring of 2017, First Capital Federal Credit Union will award TWO Dennis Flickinger Honorable Scholarships, valued at $1,000. Dennis retired from First Capital in 2015 after serving as President/CEO for 26 years. Dennis advocated for financial education in schools and worked tirelessly to promote Credit Unions as a better choice for their financial future. The scholarships will be awarded to students who graduate from a York County high school in this current school year (2016/17), is a credit union member by date of application, and plans to attend an institution of higher learning (accredited two or four year degree program) in the fall of Applications will not be accepted for those enrolled as part-time students or for those taking adult remedial education courses. Completed applications must be received at the address below or receive via by April 7, 2017 and must include all requested items in order to be considered. This is a very exciting time for you as you choose a college and future vocation. We realize it is also a very hectic time with rushing to get applications for college, scholarships and financial aid completed and submitted by the allotted deadlines. Please read through all of the scholarship materials before completing the application. To properly complete the application, you will need to do the following: 1. Ensure you answer each and every question on your application. 2. Provide your Credit Union account number (To be eligible for the First Capital FCU Scholarship you are required to be a member of our credit union). 3. Provide Letter of Acceptance from the institution you plan to attend. 4. Declare your Career Goals. 5. Provide three (3) Letters of Reference; one of which must be from your High School Guidance Counselor. 6. At First Capital we have implemented something called First Cap Gives Back a program to support 4 charities a year both monetarily and voluntarily. To complement our new program, this year s essay topic is: Why is philanthropy important in today s world? And, why is it important to you? (Please submit a TYPED essay 500 to 1,000 words in length.) 7. Submit your completed application along with the above requested items by April 7, All requested information must be included.
