1 Challenge 2017: Refugee - Reawakening the Human Potential India National Finals 2017
2 DEAR PARTICIPANTS, The 2017 Hult Prize "President's Challenge" is "Refugees - Reawakening Human Potential" and will focus on restoring the rights and dignity of people and societies who may be, or are forced into motion due to social injustice, politics, economic pressures, climate change and war. We will also work to restore the rights and dignity of those currently living in informal / illegal settlements. We believe young people and their collective wisdom is the only way forward. This challenge was selected by President Bill Clinton and announced at the 2016 Hult Prize Finals and Awards program New York. At the Hult Prize, we have made it our mission to find and fund start-up solutions to some of the world s most pressing issues. It is also our mission to raise and drive awareness to the opportunities that exist by servicing the world s poor through lasting, sustainable business. In the last seven years, we have seen some amazing things. We believe more than ever in the wisdom of the crowd and in you. We believe that social impact can come from anyone, anywhere not just corporate social relations departments of Fortune 500 companies, philanthropists and non-profit organizations. As we look to this year s challenge of reawakening human potential in relation to refugees, we ask you to use your broad networks and your knowledge of business, science and technology to develop breakthrough ideas that can be implemented to have lasting impact on our world. We believe that traditional NGOs are not the answer. It is time for a new generation of social enterprise to bring real change. Thank you for taking the time to participate in this year s Hult Prize, and congratulations for making it this far. It is my hope that irrespective of the outcome of the competition, this experience will lead to a new and better world for both you, the institutions you represent and the beneficiaries you aim to serve. On behalf of the entire Hult Prize team, welcome to the 8th annual Hult Prize. Good luck! Ewelina Janus Abhimanyu Abrol Lokesh Abrol India National Directors - Hult Prize Foundation INDEX: 1. Bawa Grover The format is informal with emphasis on learning imperatives for individuals & entrepreneurs... also included during the session is an interesting video on this novel theme. Founder Hexagon Consulting 'Designing Solutions for Human Impact' While designing solutions, understanding the humans impacted is a prerequisite. Design Thinking enables exploration and understanding of latent human needs, fears, expectations, cultural practices and beliefs, all necessary to create solutions that are willingly adopted and embraced. Prof. Vijay Ghei Design Thinking Hult International Business School This brief session will introduce some of Design Thinking s core principles and methods that may help tackle the complex opportunity of restoring the rights and dignity of millions of refugees the world over through viable social enterprises. Developing Culturally Sensitive Global Social Entrepreneurs' Being culturally sensitive is a necessary competence for success. Renu Ramakrishnan Training Facilitator, Hult Prize India Core Team, MBA, Lehigh University, USA This workshop will strive to expand participants awareness and understanding of the impact of cultural differences on themselves and the people around.
