The forty-fourth annual session of the Yale Model United Nations Conference will take place from January 18th to January 21st, 2018 at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Through this conference, approximately 1800 talented high school students and 150 Yale students participate in an inspiring simulation of the decisions and challenges faced by representatives to the United Nations. YMUN fosters international relations and diplomacy skills, as well as discourse around topics ranging from public health to international security through interactive and innovative committee structures. We encourage our delegates to take initiative and engage locally and globally with our mission, Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow. Our educational focus motivates delegates to be global citizens and leaders, and empowers delegates to make an impact and affect positive change in the world. YMUN is a conference with a global mission and reach. Our 1800 or so delegates hail from over 80 schools around the world, and 40 different countries. 4 About Us Yale Model United Nations is a four-day international relations simulation for high school students held annually on Yale University s campus in New Haven. At YMUN, delegates from all over the world interact with one another through debate and diplomacy to solve complex challenges facing the world today. Students take on the roles of UN representatives and members of other international bodies and national cabinets, and learn about the workings of international politics and problem solving. By engaging in topics concerning security, economic development, and social progress, delegates learn to navigate the complexities of international negotiation and teamwork, adopt new perspectives and develop comprehensive resolutions to pressing global issues. Building upon forty-three years of experience, YMUN XLIV strives to provide every delegate with a dynamic and enriching opportunity. Through our revamped procedure, unique and novel committees, emphasis on learning and Chair training, YMUN strives to reaffirm our commitment to education and leadership. The Committee Experience Each year, Yale Model United Nations engages around 1800 delegates from over 40 countries and 80 schools in rigorous discussion of international issues. Delegates are among the most-motivated and best informed problem solvers of their generation. Together with faculty advisors and Yale students, each delegate works to conceptualize some of the most complex problems faced by our world so that they can conceive innovative and practical solutions. As the most affordable large scale US Model UN Conference, we are able to better incorporate more voices, and more valuable thoughts, than any other intellectual exercise of this type and caliber. By sponsoring YMUN, our supporters help bring delegates from all backgrounds to the table. Each contribution thus directly impacts the experience of every delegate. 7 YMUN & You Social Impact In order to extend our social impact, YMUN partners with a different nonprofit each year. Through extensive fundraising during the conference and by donating a portion of any surplus revenue we make, YMUN has helped address issues ranging from lack of clean drinking water to economic empowerment through partnerships with nonprofits such as Kiva, Heifer International, and Charity: Water. This year, we plan on working with the Yale Hunger and Homelessness Action Project, and another external nonprofit that works to combat the global food crisis.

8 What are the benefits of being a sponsor? As a YMUN sponsor, you are enabling students to attend YMUN to discuss some of the world s most pressing global issues. We are proud to engage sponsors in offering comprehensive and large financial aid packages to our delegates who may not have the financial means to attend our conference. At YMUN, we believe that the best way to invest in a brighter future is to invest in youth. Your support enriches the experience of all by directly enabling the participation of some. Name Recognition 1. The large high school Model UN community: Sponsors will enable new schools from all around the world to participate. Their sponsorship efforts will not go unnoticed and will gain them visibility among the large high school community. In addition, sponsors have the choice to fund delegations from specific regions if they desire to target specific audiences. At the end of the Conference, delegations will be asked to reflect on their YMUN experience and report back to their company sponsor. 3. Online presence: Sponsors will be featured on the YMUN website ( and will be highlighted for the fellowships established in their names. 2. The college community: As one of the most selective universities in the world, Yale itself is a universally recognizable brand. Our Model UN programs are no different. Yale s International Relations Associations, YMUN s umbrella organization, is the largest student organization on campus, and over 300 Yale students are directly involved in putting on the Conference. Sponsors will gain exposure not only among the massively influential global affairs community at Yale but also among the nationwide high school Model UN circuit. 4. Printed materials: Sponsors will be featured in our delegate guides that are distributed during the Conference. These delegate guides are handed out to all of our Conference participants (1800 delegates, 250 advisors, 150 staff members, and 25 Secretariat members).

9 How to sponsor At YMUN, we know that our delegates experiences are immeasurably improved by the participation of our sponsors. To that end, we strive to provide the same level of value to each sponsor. In the following pages, you will find a variety of service packages and individual services that we hope will suit your needs. However, please do not hesitate to let us know if there is a service not listed that you would like or if you would like to make your own package. Acquiring services as part of a package is the most affordable method of getting the most exposure. Our services are divided into print, social-media, and in-person promotion. In the past, we ve found that a combination of these is the best way to get through to delegates. Note that each contribution is noted according to the impact it could have upon the number of delegates able to attend. 11 Funding Scholarships A new opportunity to sponsor scholarships for deserving high school students In addition to financial aid that works to waive delegates participation costs, YMUN offers two scholarships for exemplary but perhaps underfunded schools from the US and from underrepresented regions of the world. By donating to this scholarship fund, your company will have its name attached to the scholarship and will be in direct communication with your school beneficiary. The Breaking Boundaries Scholarship is given to a domestic school who has never attended YMUN, may need the financial support, and would add infinitely to the conference experience as a whole. For your company to have its name attached to the Breaking Boundaries Scholarship this year, you must contribute a minimum of $2000 to the fund. The sponsored scholarship will be announced at the opening and closing ceremonies and information about the scholarship and sponsor will be provided in the delegate guide and on the website. Please feel free to add this amazing sponsorship opportunity to other sponsorship packages. Regional Scholarships are granted to schools in regions of the world that, in YMUN s history, are traditionally underrepresented. Some examples of these regions include Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and most regions in Africa. For your company to have its name attached to one of our many regional scholarships this year, you must contribute a minimum of $2500 to the fund. The sponsored scholarship will be announced at the opening and closing ceremonies and information about the scholarship and sponsor will be provided in the delegate guide and on the website. 13 Event and Merchandise Sponsorship If a sponsor feels that its organization s mission more closely aligns with a specific component of the conference, the organization can choose to exclusively contribute to and advertise within that event. We also invite sponsors to partner with us in merchandise. Both of these kinds of sponsorships are flexible and can come in the form of either direct financial contribution or in-kind donations. YMUN is happy to discuss ideas catered to specific sponsors. Events Merchandise We host a variety of events in order to give delegates the chance to meet and interact with their peers from around the world outside of committees. One such event is the Delegate Dance, YMUN s largest social event that is comprised of a main dance floor and additional activities and entertainment. We are excited to partner with businesses to enhance our delegate experience. Refreshment booths, interactive activities, branding and visible logo placement represent just a few of the possibilities for event sponsorship. Sponsors wishing to become merchandise partners have two options: Work jointly with YMUN to design co-branded merchandise to be sold during the Conference Directly donate sponsor-branded merchandise that can be given out at the Conference. Previous Conference merchandise has included winter hats, collectible pins, travel mugs, lanyards, themed apparel, and concession stand items.
