1 TERMS OF REFERENCE AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR SERVICE CONTRACTS Contract Title: ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRAINING SERVICES ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT Per the Project on IMECE Livelihoods Program Targeting Entrepreneurship Skills And Business Creation which is being implemented jointly by Habitat Derneği as the main executor, where the final beneficiary is United Nations of High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), seeking Arabic and Turkish speaking Entrepreneurship program specialists on from a national or international service provider from Turkey for country of origin. This Project aims to socio-economically empower 1590 refugees living in 9 different cities, reducing reliance on aid, through provision of (a) appropriate training and skills development services, (b) a pipeline of future entrepreneurs (c) necessary and relevant financial products, (d) social capital building mentoring and continued technical assistance, enabling refugee entrepreneurs, to start and sustain their own businesses, create jobs, contribute positively to their local communities as well as Turkey s economy. The entrepreneurship trainings to be received during services will include adaptive execution to generate information that resolves uncertainty by building and testing business hypotheses. These skills are then used to analyze the conditions across various entrepreneurial firms. Topics include the process of entrepreneurial logic, designing business models for value delivery and capture, framing competitive strategy, determining assumptions-based finance needs, understanding different innovation types and managing growth and also be in accordance with the below principles to form a frame around the standards for fair procedures: 1. BACKGROUND INFORMATION 1.1 Overall objective of the service The objective of the trainings/workshops is an intensive entrepreneurship-training program aiming at helping entrepreneurs to put their idea into action, bring an attitudinal change and build their personal entrepreneurial skills. In essence the major behaviors that are transformed during the trainings are below listed: Opportunity Seeking and Initiative Persistence Fulfilling Commitments Demand for Efficiency and Quality Taking Calculated Risks Goal Setting Information Seeking Systematic Planning and Monitoring Persuasion and Networking Independence and Self-confidence 1

2 1.2 General information about the Contracting Authority Habitat Association was configured as a part of Youth for Habitat International Network at the Copenhagen Social Development Summit in Habitat was institutionalized as an association by the youth of The United Nations Human Settlements (Habitat II) Conferences (Istanbul, 1995), and to date has approximately 300 members in nearly 100 countries. The association is determined to improve youth participation in local and national decision-making processes. The Association believes that spreading a more transparent culture of good governance, through the acceptance of the disabled or disadvantaged groups as equal partners, improves the awareness of participation in social and political life (both on local and national levels). As Habitat, we re partnering with both national and international organizations to full fill our mission. 2. SCOPE OF THE WORK & DELIVERABLES & EXPECTED RESULTS 2.1 Trainings to be achieved by the Service Provider During the program it is expected to; Have 3-day Entrepreneurship Bootcamp in Istanbul with the participation of 50 potential entrepreneurs from host community members and Syrian refugees, Have 3-day Technology in İstanbul with the participation of 60 potential entrepreneurs and technology developers from host community members and Syrian refugees, Have a 3-day Accelerator Introduction Training in İstanbul with the participation of 20 teams selected from the Bootcamp and the Technology Have a 1-day Demo Day with the participation of selected teams and potential investors 2.2 Expected Results Within the program we expect expertise in 3 different areas; Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, Technology and Start-up Acceleration Program and Demo Day. Entrepreneurship Bootcamp: A jury pitching session will be organized at the end of the Bootcamp, where all the teams will present their business ideas, and the successful projects will be awarded with Start-up Acceleration Program. The main outcome of the Bootcamp will be a business plan, which the teams will prepare through the camp with the support of the mentors. Technology : At the end of the, there will also be a Jury Pitching session, where participants will present their business ideas and the prototypes they developed in 48 hours. The successful teams will be awarded with Start-up Acceleration Program. Start-up Acceleration Program and Demo Day: The selected participants will come from the previous Bootcamp and Technology, and they will be provided with grants to be able to start their own businesses, and perform the activities during the Accelerator Program. At the end of this program, it is expected that the teams will register their companies and will enter the Turkish entrepreneurship ecosystem. 2

Bootcamp shall focus on entrepreneurial skills development of the participants providing vertical trainings, mentoring sessions and inspirational talks by migrant/refugee entrepreneurs. Educational step will mainly target validation of the business ideas from the market (customer, product, team, market). for the potential entrepreneurs Turkish/English and/or Arabic speaking mentors 18 man/days Tech days A 3 day long program will be delivered to 60 selected participants of vocational skills building program as well as other technology refugee experts. The hackathon shall be organized to develop technology prototypes and to increase entrepreneurship awareness among tech developers. for the potential entrepreneurs Turkish/English and/or Arabic speaking trainer 18 man/days Start-Up Accelerator and Demo Day 20 startup, 40 participant 4 10 weeks 3 days one on one training and mentoring; continue with 8 weeks long online mentoring sessions (1 per week per 1 startup); and finalize with 3 consecutive business days training, mentoring and demo day pitching for startup investor ecosystem members of Turkey. The acceleration program which will be organized with an objective of creating sustainable and successful business models for startups; it will also develop fundraising skills of the teams. The scope of the program will focus on creating scalable and sustainable products with startups, and developing pitching skills, creating successful KPIs, sales tactics and skills, fundraising opportunities, tech synopsis one pagers and reporting methods. for the potential start-ups Providing investors to the Demo Day 2 trainers Turkish/English speaking trainer 3 days training and 1-1 mentoring 8x online mentoring with each start-up 32 man/days mentoring 3

4 5.2.1 Equipment Video presentations, handouts, worksheets, templates, model products (curriculum vitae, letter of intent) and resource persons from the local community should be provided. The participants shall be encouraged to keep the worksheets/handouts for the future reference and also for self-assessment purposes. 3. SCOPE OF THE SERVICE 3.1 Target group The target group of the above mentioned programs will include host community members and Syrian refugees from 9 different cities in Turkey. 3.2 Outcomes 20 new business plans 20 new jury pitches from the Entrepreneurship Bootcamps 20 new technology prototypes 20 new jury pitches from the Technology 20 new investor pitches from the Accelerator Program 10 newly established businesses 4. LOGISTICS AND TIMING 4.1. Location All the activities during the program will take place in İstanbul. Apart from that online mentoring sessions will be organized during the Accelerator Program Start date and period of implementation The intended start date is The period of implementation of the contract will be 9 months from this date. 5. 5 6. MONITORING AND FINAL EVALUATION 6.1 Performance indicators The general program will consists of 3 different activities. For the Entrepreneurship bootcamp the performance indicators will include the following: 3 days program in Turkish and English Arabic translation At least 60 participants Total of 6 man/days of mentoring and training services At least 10 business plans Technology ; 3 days program in Turkish and English Arabic translation At least 60 participants Total of 18 man/days of mentoring and training services At least 10 technology prototypes Start-up Acceleration and Demo Day 3 days of one on one training and mentoring 8 weeks of online mentoring to teams At least 20 teams (40 participants) 2 mentors/trainers Total of 32 man/days of mentoring and training services 1 Demo Day, where investors and start-ups will be brought together At least 8 registered companies 5
