3 About Louisville s Airports Louisville International Airport (SDF) Just 10 minutes from downtown, Louisville International Airport is a low-fare airport that draws travelers within a 200-mile radius of the city. Louisville International offers nonstop or connecting service to hundreds of destinations worldwide. Louisville International ranks third in North America and tenth in the world in the total amount of cargo handled as home of UPS s international air-sorting hub. The airport handled 4.8 billion pounds of cargo, freight and mail in Bowman Field Bowman Field, established in 1919, is the longest continuously operating, general aviation airport in the United States. It is conveniently located approximately 5 miles from downtown Louisville. Bowman Field is situated on 426 acres. There are 17 buildings, including the historic art deco Administration Building that was built in 1929.

As executive director, Miller implements board policies and oversees a staff of about 180 who handle dayto-day operations, maintenance, and administration. Charles T. Skip Miller

5 Position Description Directs a professional and technical staff including Director of Engineering, Noise Program Coordinator & Environmental Manager as well as contracted consultants, planners and engineering entities in the design and construction of capital improvements. Responsible for grant administration, airport strategic planning and development, environmental programs compliance and capital improvement programs. Prepares AIP and other grant programs applications and requests. Ensures LRAA engineering and construction activities are in compliance with Federal, State and local guidelines and regulations. Prepares short and long term facility plans and develops and implements Environmental quality programs including noise, water and air quality improvement programs. Oversees and carries out Noise Compliance Program and overviews implementation and maintenance of Noise Abatement and mitigation Part 150 Programs. Prepares portions of the annual operating budget and capital improvement budget program. Provides policy recommendations regarding future capital improvement programs and maintains the LRAA s five year CIP. Oversees review of tenant plans, utility easements and coordinates work with other LRAA departments and outside agencies. When designated, acts as Executive Director in his absence.

6 Position Requirements Must possess a valid driver s license and be eligible for airfield driving privileges. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) desired. AAAE accreditation desirable, or must complete within three years of hire. Must have a Bachelor s Degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, planning or environmental science. Thoroughly familiar with public agency contracting procedures and contract administration. Knowledge of airport construction techniques and regulations is highly desirable. Fifteen years of increasingly responsible experience in the engineering or construction industry. Ten of which must have been in a management or supervisory capacity, five of which are associated with public planning and/or public administration of construction projects and project management.
