2 Project Overview Background on Location: UCP Downtown is located in the heart of the Garfield Neighborhood, on the corner of 7 th Street and Roosevelt. This area has a rich history; with these buildings serving the neighborhood as a Circle K for over 30 years, since Originally built in 1926, the 1007 North 7 th Street building was one of the first Ford dealerships in the Phoenix Area. Later along with adjacent buildings to the north, the building served as part of the first small shopping center north of Broadway Road, with 14 small businesses providing services such as a barber shop, cleaners and more. The current owners, the Hamden family, purchased the property in 1978 and conducted various businesses until Circle K took over in The Community Room, located at 712 Roosevelt Street, is an original 1926 structure and once served Phoenix as an office for Brinks Armored Car Services. 3 Project Description: The artist and/or team of collaborative artists shall submit a proposed budget to the Selection Committee. The project budget shall include the artist(s) fee, supplies, travel-related expenses, preparing and power washing the wall as needed, priming water needs, storage needs, requirement for cleaning onsite etc. A maintenance budget will be allocated for the upkeep of the mural outside of this scope. As UCP of Central Arizona is a non-profit serving children and adults with disabilities, upon selection for the Mural Project, the artist will be required to sign a contract for services and a Business Associate Agreement. In addition, the artist and all collaborators on the project must provide a fingerprint clearance card from the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Note that while a protective coating is not required, specifications to accommodate such a scope for the mural should be a part of the artist responsibilities. The mural will be located on the east wall of 712 East Roosevelt (UCP Downtown Community Room) and the east wall of the Circle K located across the street to the south, at 7 th Street and Roosevelt. Artists are encouraged to visit the site before submitting a proposal. There are artistic theme requirements outlined by the Committee that include: The Wall Surface Approximate Dimensions are: 1. 6 The design will be suitable and acceptable for public viewing of all ages. Title of ownership for the artwork will pass to UCP of Central Arizona for the building located at 712 East Roosevelt and Circle K for the business located at 7 th street and Roosevelt. It is expected the mural be completed by Memorial Day Weekend, 2017 It is anticipated that the project will take 3 months to complete. 6

8 Submittal Requirements: All required application materials as outlined in the RFP. All components must be in digital format with the Digital conceptual artwork submitted ideally in one file via to Upon announcement of the finalists, higher resolution images may be requested. Submittal materials will not be returned and incomplete applications will not be considered. Selection Criteria: The following criteria will be used in the selection process: Submittal of all required application materials as outlined in the RFP; Embodies life without limits and the diversity of people with disabilities served by UCP; Proven ability to create distinctive site specific artwork as exhibited by past work; Originality: creativity and uniqueness of proposed artwork concept for this project; Quality and craftsmanship of product as exhibited by past work; Maintainability: structural and surface soundness, durability and resistance to vandalism, weathering, excessive maintenance, repair costs; Ability for artwork to withstand public interaction where it can be touched; Public safety and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act; Feasibility artist's proven track record/ability to complete the work on time and within the budget: To ensure mural finalists understand the mission of UCP and program service delivery; mural finalists are required to tour the UCP Main Campus, the Laura Dozer Center: 1802 W Parkside Lane, Phoenix AZ

9 Selection Committee: A selection committee comprised of key stakeholders for the project will make the final selection for the artist awarded the bid. Members of the committee include: Armando A.
