2 Grant Grant Information Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Charitable Trust invites applications for grants from Ngāti Rangitihi beneficiaries. WHAT IS TE MANA O NGĀTI RANGITIHI CHARITABLE TRUST? Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Charitable Trust (Charitable Trust) is a charitable trust established to receive and administer settlement assets and other funding for charitable purposes. In order to be considered, grant applications will be required to meet the charitable guidelines and criteria, and contribute to the strategic priorities for Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Trust. WHAT GRANTS ARE AVAILABLE? The Charitable Trust has allocated funding for charitable purposes in four categories below. We have also signed a Partnership Agreement with Victoria University, where they will match the amount we grant their students. 1. EDUCATION Grants encouraging participation in, and recognising achievement and perseverance in, education by any Ngāti Rangitihi person. 2. SPORTS Grants recognising excellent participation and achievement in sports, by any Ngāti Rangitihi person or group. 3. COMMUNITY Grants supporting programmes or events that focus on community participation and impactful engagement in the community. Applicants funded within this category will receive a one-off contribution for an event servicing the Ngāti Rangitihi community. 4. KAUMĀTUA Grants aimed at maintaining or improving the health and well-being of our kaumātua. WHAT IF MY PROJECT FALLS OUTSIDE THESE CATEGORIES? The Charitable Trust may consider other applications which do not fall within these categories in exceptional circumstances, provided charitable criteria are met and they contribute to the strategic priorities for Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Trust and the Charitable Trust. THE CHARITABLE TRUST DOES NOT FUND: Projects or services that do not meet charitable criteria Commercial and non-charitable organisations Projects where local, central or other agencies would be the natural source of funding.
3 Grant WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY? Any Ngāti Rangitihi person, whānau, hapū, marae or other recognised Ngāti Rangitihi organisation is eligible to apply for a charitable grant. GRANT CRITERIA To be eligible for a grant, all applicants must: Be of Ngāti Rangitihi descent and a registered member of Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi For sport and community, complete an official Grant at least six weeks prior to the event or initiative For sport, be selected to compete as an individual, group or team in a national or international event recognised by the sporting body of that event For education, provide your achievement results from the year you are applying for Applicants can only receive one sponsorship per year Applicants must agree and adhere to the criteria for grants and accept decisions made with no right of appeal BENCHMARKS Sport National individuals <$250, national teams <$500, international individuals <$500, international teams <$1,000 (teams require 2/3 threshold). Education Short courses/diplomas <$300, undergraduate <$500, Masters/PHD <$1,000. Kaumatua Up to $200 for 70 years+ to reimburse medical items and services that help with maintaining or improving the health and wellbeing of our kaumātua. HOW DO I APPLY? Complete the section within this form that is applicable to the category you are seeking funding from. Sport and Community grant recipients will be required to submit a report following the completion of their funded initiative, showing the results achieved and how the funding was used. TERMS & CONDITIONS The value of each grant will be determined by a number of factors, including the funding available, the purpose of the application, the amount applied for, and/or the benchmarks in place for that category. Priority will be given to new applicants to assist the Charitable Trust in distributing funding widely. In the event that the fund is oversubscribed, monies will be allocated according to priorities determined by the Charitable Trust. The Charitable Trust has the sole discretion to accept or decline an application that is not fully completed or does not meet the criteria set out in these regulations. Its decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Funding granted can only be used for the purpose for which it was granted.

5 Section 3: Grant Type (Complete the relevant section for the grant you are applying for) The Charitable Trust has allocated funding for charitable purposes in four categories: 1. EDUCATION The purpose of the Education grant is to recognise the pursuit of educational excellence by Ngāti Rangitihi. This pursuit is an important aspect of personal, whānau, hapū and iwi development. For this purpose the Charitable Trust allocates a limited amount of funding towards this grant each year. This grant funds retrospective annual applications in February and August review cycles. Applicants can apply to one of three sub-education categories: Short Course/Diploma <$300 Undergraduate <$500 Masters/PHD <$1000 List the academic qualifications you currently hold:... Detail the recognised education programme you are participating in:... When did the programme commence?... When did the programme end?... NOTE: You are required to provide results of achievement from the recognised education programme. If you receive funding and are a student at Victoria University, Victoria University will match the grant provided and pay this to you directly. PAGE 2 OF 6
6 Section 3: Grant Type 2. SPORTS The purpose of the Sports grant is to recognise the pursuit of sporting excellence by Ngāti Rangitihi. This pursuit is an important aspect of personal, whānau, hapū and iwi development. For this purpose the Charitable Trust allocates a limited amount of funding towards this grant each year. Applicants can apply to one of four sub-sport categories: National Individuals <$250 National Teams <$500 International Individuals <$500 International Teams <$1000 Explain the sporting activity you are participating in:... When does the activity commence?... When does the activity end?... What are the names of your team members (for an application on behalf of a sporting/organisation group)? Are at least 2/3 of team members registered with Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi?... NOTE: If your application relates to an individual/group participating at a representative level, or participating in a large competition, please provide a copy of your acceptance. You are required to provide recognition from the relevant sporting body or organisation. For teams, this must include all members. PAGE 3 OF 6
7 3. COMMUNITY The purpose of the Community grant is to recognise the efforts of Ngāti Rangitihi to provide programmes or events that benefit the community. Applicants funded within this category will receive a one-off contribution for an event servicing the Ngāti Rangitihi community. What is the name of the initiative?... You will receive up to $200 to reimburse medical items and services. NOTE: You are required to attach receipts to receive this grant. 9 Section 6: Declaration In making this funding application I declare that: 1 I am authorised to do so and to the best of my knowledge have supplied information that is true and correct. 2 I have read and understood Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Charitable Trust Funding Criteria and agree with the grant conditions. 3 Any funding received will be used for the purpose for which it was approved. 4 Sport and Community grant recipients will be required to submit a report within 3 months following the completion of their funded initiative. This must show the results achieved, and report, how the funding was used. The individual/ organisation will comply with any reasonable request from Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Charitable Trust to monitor performance and accountability. 5 I agree that Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Trust and/or Charitable Trust may profile and publicise the initiative on their website, newsletters and reports where they see fit. 6 I acknowledge that any decision made by Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Charitable Trust is final. 7 I accept that no reasons for such a decision will be given, nor will any correspondence be entered into. 8 For Victoria University students, agree that your bank details can be provided to Victoria University for payment of matched funds.
