4 No course level changes (i.e. AP to advanced, advanced to standard, etc.) will be considered until after the first interim report date, which is Friday, October 5. Therefore, please discuss with your student his/her enrollment in any advanced, AP, or IB classes. Although we encourage students to challenge themselves and take these courses whenever possible, we frequently observe that students sometimes change their minds about these higher level classes as the new school year approaches and the reality of the workload becomes apparent. Please help them think through the demands of these classes now, as we cannot guarantee there will be room to move them into standard level courses as we move into the summer. Students will continue to use a Google form to request an appointment with their counselor. A computer will be set up at the counter in our lobby for students to use. The link for the Google form will be uploaded to the school counseling webpage so students can request their counselor from anywhere. 7 Dear Parents/Guardians and Students: With summer quickly coming to an end, questions often arise regarding student parking. Initially, parking permits will be sold during orientation for eligible juniors and seniors. Once the school year begins, permits will be sold during lunch blocks on Tuesdays and Thursdays during 3 rd block in the main office. Eligible juniors and seniors may purchase their parking permit on Wednesday, August 22 between 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during their assigned orientation time notated on page one of this packet. Ninth and tenth graders will not be issued parking permits during orientation. If available, eligible sophomores may purchase parking permits during the second semester. The cost of all parking permits and replacements is $ Due to the assigned orientation times for students on Wednesday, August 22 that are in place for the school year, please note that all parking spaces will be assigned to students in a random order. All students who wish to drive a vehicle to school must purchase a parking permit. Should a student drive a vehicle to school without a permit, the vehicle is subject to be towed without warning and appropriate disciplinary consequences may be assigned. Driving to school is a privilege reserved for responsible students and parking permits are issued only to juniors and seniors in good standing. Maintaining good attendance and appropriate conduct are requisites to take advantage of student parking. Furthermore, students must have no outstanding debts (including, but not limited to, outstanding library fines, cafeteria fines, or lost book fees) and must be cleared before a permit may be purchased. Also, any student who accumulated multiple parking violations during the previous school year may be denied the receipt of a parking permit for the school year. Seniors will park in the upper two parking lots and use the stadium lot for overflow as necessary. All juniors will be assigned to the parking lot at the stadium. When a student arrives in the morning, he or she must park in their assigned parking space. We will continue to have school personnel direct traffic and monitor parking lots each day to ensure the safety of our students. Please note that parents/guardians must be present to purchase a parking permit or the parent s signature must be notarized on the parking regulations form. No parking permits will be issued without proper parent/guardian authorization. In order to be eligible for an Atlee High School parking permit, students will need: 1. A valid driver s license. 2. D.M.V. registration card for the vehicle for which the permit is being purchased. 3. Signed acknowledgement of the Atlee High School parking regulations located on page. Parking on campus is a privilege that is extended to eligible students. Those students who elect to disregard any parking regulation notated on the next page of this packet may be towed at operator s expense and will be subject to appropriate disciplinary consequences. Please note that the school administration may revoke a parking permit at any time for the violation of any parking violation notated below. Please note that the access road that runs from behind Atlee High School, Chickahominy Middle School and Cool Spring Elementary School is closed to traffic. In the interest of the safety of our students, staff, and patrons, and security of our school property, the road will be opened only on an as needed basis for special events. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Dr. John Wheeler Principal

8 Atlee High School Parking Regulations 1. The cost of a permit is $75.00; the replacement cost is also $ Only eligible seniors and juniors may purchase a parking permit. The parking permit issued to a student is not transferable. 3. All vehicles must have a valid AHS parking permit hanging from the rear view mirror while on campus. 4.
