2 Women Graduates Event: Policing in a New World The FBINAA Conference welcomes guest speaker Senator Gwen Boniface to the Women Graduates Event for an inspiring lunch and presentation on policing in a new world. Sunday, July 22, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Location - Hotel Chateau Laurier FEE - $50 per person Includes - Lunch and presentation Contact - Debbie Clark, Women Graduates Event Chair, dclark@hamiltonpolice.on.ca Senator Boniface has served in the Senate of Canada since Prior to this, she served as the International Association of Chiefs of Police s (IACP) Deputy Executive Director. She previously served as the Transnational Organized Crime Expert with the United Nations Police Division, New York, where she was tasked with addressing organized crime in conflict and post-conflict countries, particularly West Africa. Prior to working for the United Nations, Senator Boniface served for three years in Ireland as the Deputy Chief Inspector of the Garda Síochána Inspectorate, an oversight mechanism established for An Garda Síochána, Ireland s national police service. In addition, Senator Boniface spent thirty years with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) where she started as constable and retired as Commissioner in During this time, she was President of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) as well as a Commissioner with the Law Commission of Canada. She is also the recipient of the Order of Merit of Police Forces and the Order of Ontario, the Order of St. John, Alumnus of Distinction Award from Humber College, the United Nations Peacekeeping Medal, and was awarded an honorary doctorate of letters from Nipissing University in Senator Boniface is a long-time member of the IACP and has served as the General Chair of the IACP s Division of State and Provincial Police, and as a member of IACP s Board of Officers and Executive Committee. Senator Boniface is a graduate of York University and a law graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School.
3 Quebec City Grand Walking Tour During this nicely paced walking tour, participants will stroll the Upper town and the Lower town of Old Quebec and visit Dufferin Terrace with views and details of the Chateau Frontenac/St-Lawrence River/Plains of Abraham-Citadel, Ursuline's Convent, City-Hall and the courtyard of the Seminary, Old Port Marina, the quaint Antique & Art District, the "Place Royale" birthplace of Quebec City, and Petit Champlain Street (one of the oldest commercial streets in North America). Our experienced and seasoned personal guide will point out all things of interest, you will also get suggestions on what to do next in Quebec City and you will be able to ask as many questions as you want! Join us for a short a fun class where you will learn what First Responders across the county are being taught in their YFFR (Yoga for First Responders) classes and why they keep coming back for more. During this session, you can expect a brief introduction to YFFR protocol, which includes tactical breath techniques, physical drills and mindfulness exercises that positively affect the nervous system and help turn stress into resilience. Expect a laid back and fun class while learning some great new tools to incorporate into your everyday life. This is an educational session, not a fitness workout. 4 Cruise on the Louis Jolliet Down the St. Lawrence River This FBINAA group activity is a guided sightseeing cruise and lunch aboard the AML Louis Jolliet. Sail down the St. Lawrence with views of the Cape Diamond, surrounding Quebec City and Montmorency Falls. Take in a little history of Quebec City and enjoy a great lunch buffet. Sunday, July 22, 12:00 pm - 3:30 pm COST - $50 per person Includes - Cruise, lunch and bus transportation to the AML Louis Jolliet Day at the Water Park This FBINAA group outing is a special full day at Quebec City s summer water park, Valcartier Vacation Village, featuring more than 35 heated waterslides, 100+ interactive water games and activities, 2 theme rivers and a huge wave pool. 5 Citadelle de Quebec Tour This FBINAA group activity is a guided tour of the Citadelle, a National Historic Fortress built between 1820 and 1850 for the British Royal 22 e Régiment. Located atop Cape Diamond and nicknamed the Gibraltar of America, the Citadelle is an impressive architecture landmark at the highest natural point in Quebec with spectacular views of the City and the St. Lawrence River. The group guide will take you back to the French Regime and return to the present day with stops at historic structures like the Cap Diamant Redoubt (1693), the East Casemate (1831), and the military prison (1842). The tour also includes the daily changing of the guard ceremony on the site. Monday, July 23, 8:30 am - 12:00 pm FEE - $15 per person Includes - Citadelle admission, changing of the guard ceremony, guided tour Registration - pre-registration is required. Taste Trail to Isle d Orleans This is a private FBINAA group tour. Located roughly 10 miles from Quebec City, the Isle d Orleans was one of the first settlements for New France in the sixteenth century. The island is home to historic homes and churches, vineyards, sugar shacks, delicious bakeries, and drop-dead-gorgeous scenery. The tour includes visits to Vignoble Isle de Bacchus for wine tasting, Cidrerie Verger Bilodeau for maple tastes and ice cider, and Au Buffet Maison for authentic artisanal Quebec cheeses. 6 Day at the Aquarium du Quebec This FBINAA group outing is a special full day at Quebec City s popular Aquarium, where 10,000 marine animals call home. The Aquarium is also a fun place to play on indoor and outdoor shows, climbing trails, water games and the child-friendly Tree-to-Tree circuit. Lunch is included.
