3 the SPACE DANCE! ACT! PERFORM SUNRISE PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE INC. How does Performing Arts make a difference? Performing arts not only keeps people of all abilities and ages in our communities active mentally and physically, it provides an outlet for emotional epression both for participants and spectators. There have been many studies that support the positive impact performing arts has on individuals such as: Improves academic performance Lowered crime rates among youth Engaged seniors and people with a variety of disabilities (increasing socialization, epression and self-worth) And even impedes aging! Dr. Gene Cohen, director of George Washington University's Center on Aging, Health and Humanities reports that seniors involved in performing arts have better overall physical health and fewer doctors' visits. Also they reported that seniors have fewer falls and better scores on depression and loneliness scales. Cohen noted that arts participation had a positive impact on maintaining elders' independence and appeared to reduce "risk factors that drive the need for long-term care." Become a Sponsor of the SPACE Sponsor a Participant Sponsor an Event Sponsor a Program Sponsor the SPACE The SPACE is a rural-based charity dedicated to providing performing arts opportunities of the highest standard to people in rural communities who wouldn't otherwise have those eposures. But it's not just about learning to dance or act or sing: the SPACE is a place for self-discovery. It's a place where young people learn to turn dreams into attainable goals; a place where the feelings and energy within oneself can be epressed through movement and voice and other performing arts. Supporting the SPACE shows that you invest back into the rural community you do business in. It shows that you value the lifelong impact that participating in performing arts has on people of all ages. Sunrise Performing Arts Centre of Ecellence Inc. A registered Canadian Charity # RR0001 3
