7 TEAM BUILDING EXERCISE Information for Participants 10:00 am Arrival 10:15 am 10:45 am Large group activities, energizers & ice breakers 10:45 am -1:00 pm Split the group into 6 smaller groups of around 10 participants and you will be doing a variety of low initiatives during this time. WHAT TO EXPECT Energizers and Ice-Breakers Many people come to the course a bit hesitant. What to expect? Am I able to do everything? I don t really know my group well outside of work, school, etc. One reason we spend time at the beginning of a program having the group play is that it helps people warm up their brains as well as start to let down some of their protective walls. The walls we place up to protect ourselves can be a hindrance to growth. So, enjoy being a bit silly. If you pay close attention, you ll start to notice you are learning here too. It s kinda like when your mom hid veggies in your favorite dish! Low Initiatives Low initiatives are intrinsically designed to help groups work on leadership, communication, problem-solving, and team work. Our facilitators will help our group get beyond those buzzwords and get you talking about how your group operates and ways to improve on both strengths and weaknesses within your group. Wear appropriate clothing/attire: 1. Bring a change of clothes, you can wear the CoM t-shirt you will receive during registration. 2. Closed-toe shoes with backs, sneakers, and socks (no open toe sandals). 3. Long pants or shorts that allow plenty of freedom and movement for moderate physical activity that may include being upside down or lifted by others. 4. No loose jewelry. (Including watches, earrings, and necklaces) 5. Shirts should be long enough to tuck into pants. (No belly shirts or tank tops) Follow these regulations: 1. Food and drink are not allowed with the exception of water in a closed container. 2. No cell phones, portable game devices or other electronic devices are to be used. 3. The areas within and around the FAU are tobacco and smoke-free environments. FAU is a tobacco free campus. 4. Participants may not be under the influence of nor possess illegal drugs or alcohol during FAU program activities. FAU reserves the right to request a participant under the influence of drugs or alcohol to cease participation in the activity and leave the premises. 5. Abide by all directions of the FAU program staff and follow all established safety procedures. Failure to do so may be cause to modify or cancel the event.
