8 8 Winter 2018 Campus Rec warming workouts RESTORATIVE YIN & YOGA NIDRA Anomi Bearden 10 Classes Mondays: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm January 22 to April 2 Strengthen the mind-body relationship for self-care & healing. Yin yoga is a restorative, meditative practice in which postures/ stretches are held for longer periods of time with loving awareness & breath in order to release stress & tension holding patterns. Yoga Nidra the sleep of the yogis is a restorative healing which allows for exploration of body, mind, & emotions in a non-reactive way in order to cultivate equanimity (which affords more freedom from suffering). The class will include yin yoga & yoga nidra practices. Students, Staff, Alumni: $60 Community: $80 KANGOO KANGOO FITNESS Chelsea Crowley 10 Classes Mondays: 4:45 pm 5:45 pm January 22 to April 2 Kangoo is a fun workout that combines the best of cardio & strength training, a highly motivating interval training program, specifically designed to challenge the whole body, building muscular strength and endurance. It stimulates and drains the lymphatic system, promotes bone density, reduces impact on joints by 80% and torches calories, improves cardio health all while having a blast! As the course progresses we will develop a dynamic series of postures intended to increase overall strength, flexibility and concentration. NOTE: Classes are 1.5 hour sessions. Participants will learn to recognize the issues related to low self-esteem and disordered eating and explore the benefits of positive self-talk and self-compassion. They will also discuss strategies to practice assertiveness, goal-setting, and how to support others struggling in these areas. Crisis and Communication Wednesday, February 7 6:00 pm Living Room (1009) Helping others does not mean healing others. Sometimes, when helping others in a crisis situation, we need to recognize our limits and be prepared to provide a quick referral. Participants will learn to identify various crisis situations and become familiar with the resources available on campus and in the community. Stress Management and Self Care Tuesday, March 6 6:00 pm Living Room (1009) Stress is a natural response to feeling overwhelmed by the demands in our lives. Sometimes, it can feel like too much to handle and people may feel helpless when they experience high levels of stress. Participants will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of stress and explore and practice healthy coping techniques to reduce stress and improve quality of life. They will also learn about Self-Care and the value of investing time in oneself.
