6 6 KISD CHART FOR DETERMINING FINAL EXAM EXEMPTIONS NOTE: Student textbook records must be clear in all subjects before any final exam exemptions are awarded. The intensity of college exams catches far too many college freshmen by surprise. Taking the AP exams will give you a clear understanding of what you need to do to succeed on a college exam. Houston, Texas Prom Theme Masquerade Ball Prom Flower White Rose Prom Colors Black, Silver and Royal Blue Dress: The prom is formal. Suit, tie, tux, formals and semiformal dresses are acceptable. Students must follow the KISD dress code for acceptable attire. Admission to Prom: No ticket is needed to be admitted to the prom. All students and their dates must register at the time of purchase. You must know the correct spelling of the date s name, the school/college/employment, grade and home phone number when purchasing Prom package. 11 11 Behavior Expected: All attendees must conform to the Klein Oak Student Handbook, Behavior and Conduct Plan. No form of intoxication or questionable behavior will be tolerated. Anyone questionable will be removed by either the administration or Klein Police and parents will be notified. Consequences will be disciplinary action by the school district and/or the proper authorities. It does not matter if a date is of legal age to consume alcohol. This is a school function. Announcement of King and Queen will take place between 10:45 P.M. and 11:15 P.M.

13 SNAPP (Senior Night After Prom Party) Theme: Location : Peace, Love and SNAPP Main Event I-45 Shenandoah, Texas Klein Oak SNAPP, an all-night alcohol/drug free event for seniors and their dates, will be held from 12:00 A.M. to 6:00 A.M. immediately following the Prom. KO Seniors will be eligible to win prizes. Food and drinks will be provided. $60 person (price goes up to $70 May 1 st ) It s not required to attend Prom in order to attend SNAPP NO STUDENTS WILL BE ADMITTED AFTER 1:30 AM, AND MAY BEGIN TO LEAVE AT 5:00 AM REMEMBER The SNAPP ticket and the Senior Assessment Fee are two separate fees. Please pay for them separately. Seniors receive one (1) SNAPP ticket, which is the t-shirt. This shirt is the admission ticket into the event. Main Event provides unlimited time on games, bowling and other activities. Klein Oak Seniors Earn a FREE After Prom Ticket Parents This is how it works: 1. Students volunteer a minimum of 6 hours (minimum volunteer shift of 3 hours), up to a maximum of 10 at approved locations. 2. A manager or supervisor signs off on the SNAPP volunteer form (located on SNAPP website). 3. Turn completed and signed form into Ms. Wells before April 8, Have your senior keep checking the list on her door, once their name is on the completed list their ticket is free!!! What an awesome way to save some money! One Example of a volunteer opportunity is Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) which always has lots of need for assistance.
14 14 SENIOR AWARDS Several senior students will be selected to receive special awards for their tenure at Klein Oak High School. Those students who are selected will receive notification in late May. If you are selected, you will be expected to attend the rehearsal and subsequent ceremony. Be sure to turn in all scholarship offers to the counseling office ASAP. There will be a brief rehearsal Wednesday, May 25th during 4th period for students receiving awards. You will be placed on the excusal list and notified at the proper time. The Senior Awards Program will be held at Klein Oak High School in the auditorium on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 11:00 am. All Parents are welcome!
15 15 GRADUATION Only students who have met all graduation requirements will be eligible to participate in the June ceremony. If in doubt, see your counselor. INVITATIONS Commencement invitations have been distributed. Information regarding invitations may be obtained by contacting Herff Jones at Any one who purchased invitations for June and will be a summer grad, needs to contact the company to exchange invitations. CAPS & GOWNS Caps and gowns will be issued in the middle of May. All fees, fines and obligations must be cleared prior to issuance. Information regarding caps and gowns may be obtained by contacting HERFF JONES It is the responsibility of the student to show up at commencement with a clean and neat cap and gown. HOLDS A SENIOR HOLD LIST will be generated. It includes all senior students who owe fees, fines, or some other financial obligation, such as lost books or fundraiser money. SENIORS ON THE LIST WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BE ISSUED THEIR CAPS AND GOWNS.
16 16 COMMENCEMENT REHEARSAL There will be two rehearsals for graduation, All seniors are to be present and on time. Attendance at rehearsals is mandatory. The first rehearsal will be on Wednesday, May 25 (5th period). Students should report to the large gym. The sr. Bar-B-Que will follow the rehearsal at 12:30 in the small gym. Remember to wear your cap and gown. The second rehearsal will be on Thursday June 2nd 8:30a.m.- 10:30a.m. Seniors are to report to the large gym and will receive their graduation seating information. The dress code will be in effect for both rehearsals. CEREMONY Location The commencement ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 12:00 noon at Reliant Stadium. Dress Dress Code must be followed Girls Wear dresses /nice slacks that compliment the gown. Collars come in the package with the gown; be sure not to lose them. Wear dark shoes. No flip flops or tennis shoes. Boys Wear white or pastel shirt with TIE, conservative dress slacks, dark socks and leather or patent shoes. No jeans, tennis shoes or sandals. Be sure to be clean shaven. No unnatural hair coloring No facial piercing of any kind Wear hats with mortar board flat not tilted to one side or to the rear. Begin with tassel on left side, move to right when told to do so by the Superintendent. Failure to adhere to proper dress standards places you in jeopardy of not taking part in the ceremony.
17 17 Arrival Seniors are to report at 10:45 am to the left of the Amegy Bank entrance of Reliant Stadium for lineup and final instructions. There will be signs posted to direct students to the correct location. ONLY Klein Oak Seniors will be admitted to this area. A teacher will be stationed at the entrance to give instructions. Graduates should not bring anything such as purses, cell phones, or cameras. There is no where to leave such items. They will be taken up and will not be given back until after diplomas have been picked up. Graduates arriving late should report to the assistant principal by the registrar in Reliant in order to be seated. Graduates will be seated at the appropriate time. Conduct Students should refrain from talking during the ceremony. Students are to take their cues from the floor marshals in lining up to walk across the stage. Inappropriate actions such as gesturing, jumping, throwing of beach balls, blowing horns, or anything that could take away the focus from classmates or the overall purpose of the ceremony WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Diplomas may be withheld for such actions for a determined period of time with a number of community service hours additionally assigned.
18 18 Processional The graduates will assemble in Reliant Stadium. Line up assignments will be given to students at the rehearsal. Please arrive at 10:45 am. Dress Code will be checked and students will line up in appropriate order for the processional. Teachers will be stationed at approximately every 25 students to assist in line up. The processional will begin PROMPTLY at 12:00 noon. Students must walk directly behind the person in front of them and as close as possible without stepping on the other student s feet. Students must not allow large distances to develop between one another. Students should pair off with the person who comes from the opposite tunnel regardless of whether or not it is the person with whom they practiced. The floor marshals will lead the graduates to the proper row. Graduates must sit in the correct seat assignment, which may mean skipping a seat for a late arriving student. All participants must remain standing until all graduates are in place. Boys will remove mortar board during the National Anthem, prayer, and pledge. They will then replace mortar board on head and fix tassel. Girls DO NOT remove hats. Graduates will be instructed when to be seated by the speaker at the podium. Conferring of Diplomas Following all commencement addresses, the floor marshals will designate a row of students to stand and proceed to the line to receive diplomas. One at a time, student s names will be called and he/she will cross the stage to receive a diploma cover from the principal and shake hands with a member of the KISD school board. Students must wait until their name is called before crossing the stage. After receiving their diploma covers, graduates will return to the appropriate seat on the floor.
19 Photographs and Videos 19 A professional photographer, Loyd s Photographs and Videos, will provide a reasonably priced picture of the graduates as they receive their diplomas from the principal. Parents and friends are not allowed on the floor of the stadium. The commencement photograph packages are examples of those offered. A video recording of the ceremony will also be available. More information concerning pictures will be given closer to graduation. All orders for pictures and video should be mailed to the company. COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY ** Official Photo - student receiving diploma from Principal ** PHOTOGRAPH of Student with Principal DVD Resolution Digital File (No Photos) $20.00 Pkg. E 1-5x7 $ 4.50 Recessional The recessional will begin immediately following the benediction. Graduates must remain in their place of order at all times and follow instructions from the floor marshals. Each row will wait until the preceding row is clear before starting. Immediately after the recessional, floor marshals will lead the graduates to where actual diplomas will be distributed. Diplomas During the ceremony, students will be handed the diploma cover only. The actual diploma will be given to each graduate following graduation.
20 20 After Graduation All students must vacate Reliant Stadium and the parking lot as soon as possible. Make a plan to meet family members at a specific location. Travel and Traffic Remember to MapQuest directions to Reliant Stadium. No tickets are necessary for admittance. The guest parking is off of Kirby Drive and South Loop 610 Gate 8. There will be a parking fee of $10. Guest Entrance The guest entrance is the Amegy Bank entrance of the Reliant Stadium. All guests will exit out the Ford entrance. (see attached map) The student entrance is to the left of the Amegy Bank entrance and all students will exit out the Ford Entrance. Handicapped Guest Information Guests in wheelchairs should enter through the Amegy entrance of Reliant Stadium. A section is reserved on the top level for persons in wheelchairs and their families.
21 Final Transcripts 21 Final transcripts will be mailed to the colleges and universities of your choice the third week of June All requests for this service must be made by making prior arrangements with the Registrar s Office. Each transcript costs $1.00. Requests received after the second week in June will not be processed until mid August. The Registrar s Office will be closed in mid June through the end of July.
22 22 Diplomas: Please note that all diplomas are the same. Seals (Recommended, Distinguished) are reflected on the transcript and not the diploma. Be sure to request a copy of immunization record prior to graduation. This can be done through the clinic. 2011

26 26 Summer Graduation Information KISD Graduation Sat. August 20, am. The location is Champion Forest Baptist Church. Deadline for turning in all credits to the KOHS counseling office in order to be eligible for the summer graduation program is Friday, August 12, 2011 at 3pm. This includes credits from other school or institutions such as HLA, Tomball College, Texas Tech. Cap and Gowns will be worn. Invitations are available for purchase through Herff Jones.
