Lodge #1533 is very grateful for those who step up to help out, expecting nothing in return. Prelate, Jeff Mox (pictured left) is one of those great volunteers. Jeff has a can-do spirit that is truly amazing, as he works tirelessly to finish whatever the project may be. He takes on most any task, no matter how big or small, and he always does an excellent job. With a large membership that puts lots of wear and tear on our aging building, repairs and maintenance are a constant battle. Jr. Past Governor, Mike Snyder, is a huge asset to our lodge, as well. Mike brings to us invaluable plumbing skills, which is a real benefit to our lodge in terms of saving money. Indian Lake Moose Lodge would like to thank all of the Officers, as well as the wonderful volunteers who help make our lodge a better place, simply by giving their time. MAY OUR BROTHERS SISTERS REST IN PEACE Mike McNeely Hugh Johnson Bev Wilhem Wade Denny Davenport HONORING OUR COMMUNITY HEROES PROGRAM EXTENDED From now until April 30, 2018, Moose membership fees first year dues for Active Military Personnel, First Responders, Members of the National Guard, and Border Patrol Officers will be waived. What a great way for our Moose Fraternity to say Thank You to those who serve this great country our local communities. Please help spread the word! Page 1 of 8 Downloaded from Posted: 1/31/2018 1
2 LADIES ENJOY HOLIDAY PAINT SIP With Christmas music playing in the background, a group of artistic ladies painted wine glasses, snacked and sipped the afternoon away. Each lady selected her favorite drink after sampling a variety of wines, as well as the event s signature drink, The Poinsettia. This lovely event was held December 9 th, and was enjoyed by all. In Love Friendship, Brenda McDaniel, Sr. Regent INDIAN LAKE MOOSE BAKE AUCTION BENEFITS SPECIAL OLYMPICS It was a lively night of friendly rivalry in the name of charity, as members bid against each other during the lodge s annual bake auction on December 15th. Indian Lake Moose Administrator, Mike Uhlenhake, auctioneered off mouth-watering treats donated by members, raising $1,235. Once again, two picturesque and delicious apple pies, baked by Rody Rodabaugh, drove up the bidding. The pies have become a wonderful bake auction tradition. Gloria Boles donated a generous amount of delicious baked goods, which was very much appreciated! A huge Thank You to everyone who donated and bid on items at this great event! 8 A MESSAGE FROM OUR ADMINISTRATOR It s a New Year and with that comes a lot of great changes in the way of updates to our lodge. These much-needed updates will improve the look of the entire lodge, and make it an even more enjoyable place to spend time with family friends. I would like to thank each of you who came out to vote for the $10 membership dues increase. I heard a lot of feedback, with the majority being in support of this much-needed increase. As explained in the meeting, Indian Lake Moose Lodge currently keeps only 10% from each member s dues. We are required to send the remaining 90% to Moose Intl and the State Assn. As memberships begin to roll in, the increase will be earmarked for a Capital Improvement Fund. This fund will allow us to do dedicated building and ground repairs. It costs a great deal of money to keep a building of this size and age properly maintained, and in safe condition for our members. Please see the expenditures listed under For the Good of the Lodge in this newsletter. The list shows what we ve done so far and what is still needed, regarding repairs improvements. Although we have a booming summer business, it falls off sharply in the fall and winter months. Repairs, equipment and dayto-day operating expenses stay with us year round long after the crowds are gone. Please attend lodge meetings if you have questions, or to clear up any misinformation you may be hearing from inept sources. We have lots of great events coming up in the months ahead. Make sure to check the calendar so you don t miss anything!
