1 The Fleet and Family Support Center Naval Support Activity Annapolis Transition GPS (Goals, Plans, Success) Schedule The Transition Assistance Program (TAP) provides information and training to ensure Service Members leaving active duty are prepared for their next step in life, whether pursuing additional education, finding employment in the public or private sector, or starting their own business. Transition GPS includes the 5-Day core class and individual training tracks focused on Accessing Higher Education (AHE), Career Technical Training Track (CTTT), and Entrepreneurship (ENT). All Service members who are separating, retiring, or being released from a period of at least 180 days of active duty must complete three requirements: 1. Participate in pre-separation counseling to develop an Individual Transition Plan (ITP) and identify their career planning needs. 2. Attend VA Benefits Briefings I and II, which explain what benefits the Service Member has earned and how to obtain them. 3. Attend the DOL Employment Workshop (unless exempt) which focuses on the mechanics of obtaining employment in today s job market and includes resume preparation and interview skills practice Transition GPS is delivered in classroom environments and is also available online to Service Members through Joint Knowledge Online (JKO). Prior to separation or retirement, all eligible Service Members must meet the Career Readiness Standards (CRS) corresponding to post-military education and/or career objectives. Participation in the Transition GPS curriculum ensures that Service Members have the skills, education, training, and benefits information to meet CRS.
