2 MARISS and MARISS scaling up Monitoring of italian flag ships under piracy attack, monitoring of migration flows during the North Africa crisis in 2011, examples of correlation between satellite ship detection and traffic monitoring systems (AIS, VTS, VMS, LRIT), cooperation with EFCA during the last BlueFinTuna campaign; DOLPHIN ITCG is part of the User Advisory Board. 18 Scenario: simulation of illegal trafficking from Lampedusa to Sicily coast (Trapani) Objective: to detect a small boat similar to those used for illegal trafficking. Trial organisation: a guard ship Madre of the Italian Coast Guard (CP290), moving from Trapani to Lampedusa put at sea a support rubber (CP290/S) dinghy following the route from Lampedusa to Trapani. 19 The Patrol Vessel CP290 and rubber boat GCA04 and the SUPPORT rubber dinghy of CP 290 arrived at the pre-defined location ( N E) on 04:40 UTC and moved along the indicated route at the satellite pass at 04:56:11 UTC. They continued sailing up to 05:05 UTC. The speed was the maximum possible (compatible with crew safety) and the distance between the vessels shall not be less than 100meters. During the navigation the VTS was contacted for taking trace of the identified units. During all the navigation all the information related to each vessel, route, speed saling the area were reported each 2 minutes Crew was recomended to detect the real speed, position and route of all means at COSMO pass at 04:56:11 UTC.
