2 Achieving the Vision Vision: Industry working together with our customers to provide a network centric environment where all classes of information systems interoperate by integrating existing and emerging open standards into a common evolving global framework that employs a common set of principles and processes. 2

3 Achieving the Mission Mission: Our mission is to facilitate global realization of the benefit inherent in Network Centric Operations. To that end, we seek to enable continuously increasing levels of interoperability across the spectrum of joint, interagency, intergovermental, and multinational industrial and commercial operations. We will execute this mission in good faith as a global organization with membership open to all enterprises in quest of applying the vast potential of network centric technology to the operational challenges faced by our nations and their citizens. 3

9 NCOIC Deliverables Customer Requirements We will work with our government clients to complete a thorough and rigorous analysis of pertinent government agency architectures, capability needs and mandated open standards to identify commonalities, synergies, conflicts, gaps and potential areas for improvement We will evaluate architectures related to programs such as the GIG, NCOW, ForceNet, C2CNet, LandWarNet, and DCGS to begin executing on this strategy We will expand our customer requirements study to include additional architectures as well 9

10 NCOIC Deliverables Develop and Refine an NCO Reference Model We will help our government clients to: Develop a secure information management overarching architectural framework / reference model Identify open standards and their patterns of use Assess Techniques and their ability to enable NCO applications rapidly as possible Support reusable long-term solution models that can be scaled and/or replicated, rapidly and cost effectively, for every enterprise We will help our government clients identify the widest possible community of open standards-based product types which can be used to accelerate the implementation of NCO Where no standards exist, we will help our customers develop them through the Consortium s Technical Working Groups We will develop the processes and document our methodology for maximum industry benefit 10

11 NCOIC Deliverables Establish an Education Outreach Program We will help our government clients develop a program for education and outreach that: Increases the awareness, adoption and use of the open standards Advocates industry changes in traditional thinking, approaches and cultures, to further accelerate NCO We are working with the Office of Force Transformation to explore ways to enact this strategy We are exploring relationships with the Naval Post Graduate School Cebrowski Institute and the Consortium for the Grid 11
