2 Program Design & Goal: DSI s 2018 Unmanned Systems for DoD will emphasize the increased need and reliance on UxS as an effective and crucial part of our nation s overall military posture. The Department of Defense is continuously improving capabilities of unmanned systems and this year, there is increased emphasis on applying a tactical approach to effectively fight and win in a multidomain battle. This symposium will feature the role of UxS in our country s military and focus particularly on the current and future implications of common controllers and interoperability. Through DSI s open town-hall style forum, attendees from Government, Military, Industry, and Academia will explore the emerging technological advancements, standards, and technical requirements needed to overcome the challenges affecting the US Military s ability to capitalize the expanding role of unmanned systems within contested environments. Operating Guidelines: DSI s 6 th Annual DoD Unmanned Systems Summit directly supports DoD/Federal Government priorities by providing a conduit for officials to efficiently reach audiences outside of their respective offices that directly impact their department's mission success, at no charge to the government, and in an efficient expenditure of time. DSI s Summit will provide a forum to address and improve internal and external initiatives, meet with and hear from partner organizations, disseminate vital capability requirements to industry, increase visibility within the larger community, and generally support their mission. * The Summit is open and complimentary to all DoD employees and is considered an educational and training forum. (Industry and academia members are charged a fee of attendance) Summit is CLOSED TO PRESS / NO RECORDINGS General Target Audience: This educational forum supports professionals in US Military Commands, Federal Government agencies, academia, and solution provides responsible for using or advancing technological capabilities for Unmanned Systems. -Development and progress towards affordable, survivable, long range, strike weapons with multi-platform launch capability in multi-domains -Efforts to innovate and partner with industry to develop sensors for small UxS -Challenges and next steps to ensure US Military remains competitive with the latest UxS capabilities Specific topics to be discussed include: -Understanding the functions and limitations of the Close-in Covert Autonomous Disposable aircraft (CICADA) -Ability of a tube-launched UAS to employ better-levels of sensor performance to facilitate ISR requirements -Developments concerning common platforms to facilitate the use of various platform payloads for current and future missions -Efforts to partner with industry to achieve an operational weapon system for targets in highly contested environments -Addressing technical challenges that exist by increasingly complex UAS operations and test sites concerning integration into the NAS
