2 WELCOME FROM THE BAHRAIN DEFENCE FORCE BIDEC EVENT BROCHURE 2017 On behalf of the Bahrain Defence Force, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the Bahrain International Defence Exhibition & Conference (BIDEC 2017). Under the leadership of our patron, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, and in cooperation with the world s largest organiser of Defence & Security shows, Clarion Events, the inaugural edition of BIDEC is due to be a great success. On display at the show will be equipment covering Land, Sea, Air and Special Forces including a static display area showcasing the latest military hardware, vehicles and airframes. In its first edition, the event will showcase over 100 international exhibitors, a variety of conferences, a parachute exercise, shooting range, military vehicle demo and a warship display open to all trade visitors and military delegations. Accompanying hundreds of industry vendors, buyers, experts and senior delegations in the surroundings of the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre, BIDEC 2017 provides an exclusive platform to meet and network with the right people, build partnerships and do business. This mix of attendees means that BIDEC 2017 will enable you to position you and your business for the current and future tri-service requirements for Bahrain and beyond. 3 BIDEC EVENT BROCHURE 2017 event introduction For hundreds of years Bahrain has been a hub within the Middle East for trade, travel and more recently support of international navies. BIDEC in 2017 and beyond will welcome the international defence community to the Kingdom of Bahrain to network, learn and foster relationships with allies new and old. Bahrain has a strong history of education and training with many international partners which will only strengthen in years to come; and this is not where Bahrain s international cooperation efforts end either, with the Bahrain Defence Force currently supporting coalition forces overseas. LAND BIDEC will feature land-based technology including current equipment displayed within the Static Display Zone and future technology on show from exhibitors. The Bahrain Army, Royal Guard and National Guard will all be present to network with technology providers, suppliers and prime contractors. air Complimenting the already active area of civil aviation in the region, BIDEC will deliver the military community to Bahrain in October The event will showcase both fixed and rotary wing airframes and support equipment to the Bahrain Air Force and visiting Air Force delegations. sea With naval regional bases located at Mina Salman Port, Bahrain has always been a central focus for the global naval community, and the recently established GCC Unified Naval Operations Centre Headquarters in Bahrain is further proof of this. With many neighbouring states also investing in naval programs, the region s decision makers will be able to network and discuss their many requirements. The Warship Display will offer an opportunity for international navies to showcase their capabilities and host delegations on board.

4 BIDEC EVENT BROCHURE 2017 UNIQUE BIDEC FEATURES: Parachute Exercise: Held in partnership with the Bahrain Defence Force and under the guidance of expert instructors, this feature will give military personnel and civilians with the appropriate military free-fall license opportunity to trial the latest parachute systems. Shooting Range Exercise: Delegates, visitors, exhibitors and military personnel will have the opportunity for hands on testing of firearms, ammunition and related accessories being introduced to the market. With new products being unveiled this is an experience that one cannot get anywhere else. Warship Display: The BIDEC warship display will give VIPs and visitors alike the chance to examine today s most technologically advanced ships. Regional and overseas navies are invited to send their warships and crew to proudly display their capabilities. Military Vehicle Demo: Alongside industry partners the Bahrain Defence Force will be demonstrating the latest military vehicle capabilities on a specially designed course. Yet another feature adding great value and excitement to the inaugural BIDEC exhibition. MEMAC Conference: The Middle East Military Alliances and Coalitions (MEMAC) Conference will seek to address many of the challenges facing the region, and the wider global implications. The approach will be both political and diplomatic stressing the importance of military coalitions such as the role of NATO, UN Peacekeeping Operations, The Arabic Coalition in Yemen and the Islamic Military Alliance to Fight Terrorism, with support from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and militarily with the region s military experts and coalition commanders discussing real threats and solutions, stressing the importance of military coalitions operations. VENUE Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre (BIECC) - Manama, Bahrain. BIECC is on the north side of Avenue 28, south of the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway. The venue has 14,000 square meters of column-free exhibition space and 1,400 square meters of function space. It is able to hold approximately 5,000 delegates and up to 30,000 visitors each day. There is car parking for 800 cars. It is Bahrain s largest exhibition and convention facility and operated by Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority (BTEA). Functioning under the Ministry or Industry & Commerce, BTEA is governed by His Excellency Zayed Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Industry, Commerce & Tourism as Chairman of the Board.
