7 Vision: The RAWS A region where the welfare of animals is respected, promoted and incrementally advanced, simultaneously with the pursuit of progress and socioeconomic development. Pilot course in practical animal handling

8 Purpose: The RAWS Provides direction for the development of action plans Provides a roadmap for the development of future AW policies Facilitates the establishment of priorities Provides a framework for cooperation among member countries and stakeholders in promoting and advancing AW in the region

9 The RAWS Goals: 1. Understanding of animal welfare in the region through coordination, communication, education and training. 2. Coordinated regional approach and ongoing commitment to the implementation of OIE standards. 3. Sustainable improvements in animal welfare based on regional and international research and development. 4. Sustainable mechanisms to coordinate and promote animal welfare programs and priorities.
