30 Rural-urban relations The linkage of work in the recovery industry with rural production colors much of the relations of production, reproduction, and consumption in the community of waste materials recoverers. The most obvious of these connections is the leading role played by agricultural cycles in determining when and who is able to work in Hanoi (DiGregorio 1994: 95).
