2 University of Richmond Richmond s Promise to Virginia Virginians whose annual family income is $60,000 or less may receive grants equal to full tuition, room, and board at the University of Richmond without loans. Eligible students must be Virginia residents, admitted as first-year Richmond students, have an annual income of $60,000 or less and qualify for need-based financial aid. For more information, visit financialaid.richmond.edu/promisetovirginia PSAT/NMSQT JACK KENT COOKE FOUNDATION Scholarships can open doors for students who might not be able to afford college, and the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation provides one of the largest scholarships in the country for high-achieving students with financial need. Over half (54 percent) of the students who won the Jack Kent Cooke College Scholarship last year had taken the PSAT/NMSQT and were discovered through Student Search Service. The Cooke Scholarship seeks out underrepresented students of all races, backgrounds, and ethnicities using the PSAT/NMSQT. Offers up to $ per year for four years of undergraduate study at any accredited college or university. Can be used toward total cost of attendance, not just tuition, room and board. Supports study-abroad programs and internships A chance to receive $50,000 a year for graduate study, to up four years.

4 Toptal Scholarship for Women My name is Irina and I would like to share a scholarship program launched by my company, Toptal. We just started a scholarship program to award 12 scholarships over the next 12 months to help women pursue their technical career aspirations. It is open to more than just aspiring developers; the award applies to anyone with a passion for tech and we welcome applicants from all majors and any academic standing. Each scholarship winner will receive a stipend, and in addition, a year of mentorship and guidance from the senior developer within our network. Deadline is the 15 of each month. Please apply at Irene@toptal.org NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY CENTENNIAL SCHOLARSHIP The 17th annual Centennial Scholarship is on the way. This competition is for the top graduating students who may be interested in NC State University. More specifically, the program should be directed towards students interested in career fields such as engineering, business management, chemistry, polymer chemistry, forensics, medical fields, international studies, design apparel, sourcing, fashion, merchandising or retail management as these are some other career areas graduates from our internationally known College of Textiles here at NC State enter upon graduation. A degree in Textiles at NC State is not required to apply for the Centennial scholarship, but will be required for students to receive the Centennial scholarship or any college of textiles scholarship. Up to eight of our Centennial Scholarships are valued at $60,000 (15,000/year for four years). These scholarships will cover approximately 70% of the basic in state cost of attending NC State Univ.and approximately 40% of the basic out of state cost of attending. (we have other merit scholarship based on GPA and scores, but this is the maximum of free scholarship money that can be earned) so the higher the GPA the more free scholarship money can be offered. Our application process is online & FREE and plus with early acceptance by NOV 1st 2016 each student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, will get an invitation by mail and has a chance to win a FULL TUI- TION paid scholarship for all four years...plus just for attending that day, each student will receive $250/yr for four years. Apply on our website. American Legion High Oratorical Contest Greetings!! Each year the American Legion sponsors its National High School Oratorical Contest. This contest provides your students an excellent opportunity to improve their research, writing and oration skills plus gain a greater appreciation for one of our country s cornerstone documents, the United States Constitution. 7 The Kendall Bayne Foundation Scholarship ($1000) We are proud to announce this inaugural college scholarship. The scholarship is available to high school seniors who will graduated in 2017, live in the Roanoke Valley and attend a school in Roanoke City, Roanoke County, or Salem City. Kendall was a Cave Spring High School Graduate who was beloved by the community. Fight Like a Knight was a slogan seen across the valley with students and adults cheering her on as she fought her battle with cancer. Eligibility: Current High School Senior Minimum 3.0 GPA Engaged in Community Service Accepted and enrolling full-time in a accredited U.S undergraduate program for Fall 2017 Deadline March 1, 2017 ( applications in main guidance) CCAP is a program available to all students in Roanoke City Public Schools and surrounding schools. To be eligible for this program, students must meet the following requirements: Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA, Attend William Fleming or Patrick Henry or surrounding high schools their Junior and senior year In their Senior year, students should provide: Proof of residence, Complete a VWCC application, Successfully complete the VWCC placement test with no more than 2 remedial courses needed and Complete CCAP Application. Students can be eligible to attend Virginia Western Community College tuition free for two years.

Bell Charitable Trust Is pleased to announce its Annual Merit Scholarship Opportunity The scholarship program will provide up to $80,000 over four years of undergraduate study to students selected from the Commonwealth of Virginia, With preference given to residents of the Gloucestor, Va. Area. Scholarships will be awarded to first year students entering the College of Engineering or the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan. Ann Arbor. Recipients must be enrolled at the University of Michigan and pursuing an undergraduate degree program in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science or another related scientific field. Scholarship support is for four years or through graduation, whichever is less, and annual renewal is contingent on satisfactory academic progress.

Mrs. Janice Burks, President has 3 scholarship offers $500 The Roanoke Chapter of the Girl Friends, Inc. is pleased to announce its annual scholarship opportunity. The chapter is seeking high-achieving, African American students who plan to attend an accredited four year institution and need assistance with the cost of tuition and/or fees in their pursuit of higher education. Our Chapter believes that education is the key to success in life and we want to make a difference in the lives of the students in the Roanoke Valley. This year we are awarding $ scholarship to the student who best fits our criteria. Minimum GPA 2.5 Deadline is March 4, Applications are in Main Guidance. $300 The scholarship is for a high-achieving, African American youth who plan to attend a community college or four year accredited institution of higher education. 11 $1000 to $1500 The Girlfriends fund, Inc. brings dreams to life by providing scholarship and mentoring to high-achieving, African-American students who face significant financial obstacles in their path toward a college education. The Fund provides awards of $1000 to $1500 annually for up to four academic years, depending on availability of funds, to qualified high school seniors who have been accepted to a four-year institution. The scholarship is renewable for four years, provided applicable academic requirements are met by the scholar. Our goal is to promote the academic achievement required to pursue careers including but not limited to: Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine, Law, business, education, and Creative Arts. Must have a 3.0 GPA and a SAT of 1200 or above, ACT of 18 or above. Applications in main guidance. MILDRED ANN ROSE JOHNSON 2016 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION The Mildred Ann Rose Johnson Scholarship was established September 25, 2014 and was an official 501 (3) organization January 1, this scholarship was created by the family in memory of her. They will award a $ Scholarship to an incoming college freshman. Must have a 2.5 GPA. April 1, 2016 is the deadline. Applications are in the main guidance office.

12 Delta Sigma Theta Delta Sigma Theta is awarding students the opportunity to for tuition and/or school expenses for ONE year. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and reside in the Roanoke Alumnae Chapter s service area, which include the following locations: Roanoke City, Roanoke County, Salem, Bedford, Botetourt County, Vinton, and Franklin County. The completed application packet MUST be mailed to the chapter s post office box and postmarked by 03/18/2016 Parts I-VI and the signatures (signed in ink) must be completed by all applicants. Omission of any part will eliminate the application from consideration. Individuals applying for a scholarship must: A. Be a graduating high school senior about to enter a 2 year/4 year accredited institution of higher learning B. Have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.75 or above C. Be a member of a traditionally underrepresented group All Scholarship Awards will be granted upon confirmation of registration in college for summer or regular term of the fiscal year for which the scholarship is granted. See main guidance for more details and application ARMY ROTC SCHOLARSHIPS Requirements Be a U.S. citizen Be between the ages of 17 and 26 Have a high school GPA of at least 2.50 Have a high school diploma or equivalent Score a minimum of 920 on the SAT (math/verbal) or 19 on the ACT (excluding the required writing test scores) Meet physical standards Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component (Army Reserve or Army National Guard). 14 JUNIOR LEAGUE OF ROANOKE VALLEY The Mary Terry Goodwin Kuyk Volunteer Scholarship The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize young people who have demonstrated outstanding volunteer community service in the Roanoke Valley. Each year, we award two $2500 scholarships to graduating college-bound high school students who have exhibited outstanding voluntarism and academic success. Deadline is March 7, 2016 The Rotary Club of Roanoke is offering an $8000 spanning four years scholarship to be awarded in Spring of This scholarship is based on Service Above Self and neither academic nor financial need will be major selection factors. 15 ROTARY CLUB OF ROANOKE SCHOLARSHIP 2015/2016 This club will award a four year scholarship of $8000 to college students committed to service of others. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a high school senior residing and attending school in Roanoke City, Roanoke County or Salem. Be in the top 50% of your class. Be accepted or applying to an accredited four year college or university. Winners must be willing to attend a Rotary Club lunch meeting to thank the club and give a two minute talk on their college and career goals. WILSON SCHOLARSHIP The Marcus Wilson Scholarship is proud to offer two scholarships to a graduating senior who is planning to enter college for the year. Two seniors will receive a $ scholarship in memory of Marcus Wilson, who passed away in He was on his way to being a successful young man and wanted to study Criminal Justice. His dream was cut short due to his untimely death. He loved life and desired to help others. 16 Eligibility: Nancy Quinn McCoy Humanitarian Scholarship Roanoke Area Counselors Association Applicants must be candidates for graduation from a high school in Botetourt County, Craig County, Franklin County, Roanoke City, Roanoke County, or Salem City. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 grade average. Applicants must have been accepted by a college approved by the scholarship committee. Applicants must submit the following: Application, three recommendation forms, and a transcript. (One recommendation must be from the school and two from representatives of activities in which the applicant is involved.) Applicants must plan to enter a helping profession. Financial Considerations: The scholarship will be in the form of a $1,000 grant. Payment of the grant shall be made in the form of a check payable to the recipient to use for college tuition or expenses. Through our unique essay contest, students have a chance to learn about diplomacy and compete for several life-changing opportunities! The American Foreign Service Association, in partnership with the United States Institute of Peace, is accepting entries for the AFSA 2016 National High School Essay Contest. The submission deadline is March 15, 2016 Entrants are asked to place themselves in the shoes of a member of the Foreign Service assigned to a bureau within the Department of State or the U.S. Agency for International Development. Essays should offer a peacebuilding solution to a particular conflict or crisis that threatens U.S. interests abroad. High school students of U.S. citizenship in grades 9 through 12 whose parents are not members of the Foreign Service are encouraged to apply. The grand-prize winner will receive a $2,500 cash prize, an allexpense paid two-day trip to Washington, D.C., to meet the Secretary of State and tour the United States Institute of Peace, and a full scholarship for a Semester at Sea upon the student s enrollment at an accredited university. The runner-up will receive a $1,250 cash prize and a full scholarship to participate in the International Diplomacy Program of the National Student Leadership Conference, held in Washington, D.C., and New York annually. Grandville P Meade Scholarship Program 2016 The Governor, the Superintendent of Public Instruction, and the commissioner of Agriculture (the Board of control for the Granville P. Meade Trust) hereby adopt the following procedures for the annual disbursement of income generated from the Granville P. Meade fund for the purpose of providing scholarship awards to worthy and financially disadvantaged Virginia high school seniors to attend one of Virginia s public or private colleges or universities. The Department will award four-year scholarships to qualifying students so they are able to continue their college education in subsequent years, on condition that they remain enrolled in a Virginia college or university and maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA for each semester.
