1 Cary Academy Class of 2017 Merit Scholarships Members of the Class of 2017 have reported the following merit scholarship offers from colleges, universities and other agencies. This list represents nearly $5 million dollars in merit scholarships offered to students in the Class of 2017, and it includes only those offers which students communicated in writing to the College Counseling Office. Congratulations, seniors! College Specific Scholarships Auburn University Presidential Scholarship, recognizing academic excellence, $18,000/year, $72,000 over four years. Baylor University President s Gold Scholarship, recognizing academic excellence, $22,000/year, $88,000 over four years. Belmont University General Academic Merit Scholarship, awarded to admitted freshmen with academic credentials that meet or exceed the University's freshman class profile, $6,000/year, $24,000 over four years. Bucknell University Presidential Fellowship recognizing academic excellence, $80,000 over four years, with an annual $1,500 research grant, and an assigned professor mentor. Campbell University Presidential Scholarship valued at $72,000 total for 4 years Case Western Reserve University University Scholarship, recognizes outstanding academic and personal achievement among first year applicants, $20,500/year, $82,000 over four years. (2) Catawba College Presidential Scholarship, recognizing academic excellence, $18,000/year, $72,000 over four years. Centre College Colonel Scholarship, recognizing high school accomplishments, $22,000/year, $88,000 over four years Founders Scholarship, recognizing high school excellence, $20,000/year, $80,000 over four years Clemson University Merit Scholarship, recognizing academic achievement of non residents, $15,000/year, $60,000 over four years. Merit Scholarship, recognizing academic achievement of non residents, $7,500/year, $30,000 over four years. Drexel University A.J. Drexel Scholarship, recognizing academic achievement, extracurricular activities $17,400/year, $69,600 over four years. Duke University Provost Scholar, benefits include a highly experienced academic advisor, priority in registration and selection for the Focus Program and guidance for participating in other signature programs such as Bass Connections and DukeImmerse. Multiple meetings per semester with the Duke Provost or Vice Provost for Interdisciplinary Studies. $1,000 stipend to be used for study abroad, textbooks and research related costs. (2)

2 The Robertson Scholars Leadership Program, awarded to students who demonstrate purposeful leadership, intellectual curiosity, strength of character and collaborative spirit. 18 students from Duke and 18 students from UNC Chapel Hill are selected annually. Benefits include funding for tuition, room, board, mandatory fees, three summer experiences, up to two semesters of study abroad tuition, grants and travel expenses related to attending conferences and symposiums. $300,000 over four years. Eckerd College Founders Academic Achievement Scholarship, Eckerd College's highest scholarship for outstanding academic achievement, $21,000/year, $84,000 over four years. Elon University International Scholar Award, $3,000/year, $12,000 over four years. One Time Performing Arts Scholarship, $1,000 for one year. Engagement Scholarship, recognizing promising students who embody the spirit and values of the university. Elon's nationally recognized curriculum of engaged learning challenges students to think big, stretch their imagination and learn more about themselves and the world, $4,500/year, plus a one time $2,000 grant to be used for an approved Elon Experience or project you design, 20,000 over four years. Emory & Henry College Presidential Scholarship, recognizing high school accomplishments, $15,000/year, $60,000 over 4 years. Furman University Bell Tower Scholarship, supports high achieving students whose academic, co curricular, community service, and/or leadership experiences suggest that they will make positive contributions to the Furman community, $19,000/year, $76,000 over four years. George Washington University Presidential Scholarship, $22,000/year or $88,000 over 4 years Harvey Mudd College Harvey S. Mudd Scholarship, recognizing superior academic achievement and the ability to contribute to the College community, $10,000/year, $40,000 over four years. Indiana University Bloomington Dean s Scholarship, recognizing academic achievement, $11,000/year, $44,000 over four years. Lake Forest College Presidential Scholarship, recognizing academic achievement, $15,000/year, $60,000 over four years. Lehigh University Dean s Scholars, recognizing academic excellence and leadership, $12,000/year, $48,000 over four years. Lynchburg College Hopwood Scholarship, Lynchburg College's highest scholarship for outstanding academic achievement, $21,000/year, $84,000 over four years.

3 Meredith College Academic Merit Scholarship, recognizing superior academic ability, achievement and leadership potential, $20,000/year, $80,000 over four years. North Carolina State University Park Scholarship, recognizing outstanding accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The program develops and supports Park Scholars in these areas, preparing them for lifelong contributions to the campus, state, nation, and world. $107,000 over four years. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute The Rensselaer Medal, awarded to recognizing students who have distinguished themselves in mathematics and science, $25,000/year, $100,000 over four years. Savannah College of Art and Design SCAD Academic Honors Scholarship, recognizing academic achievement, $5,000/year, $20,000 over four years. SCAD Achievement Honors Scholarship, recognizing overall achievement $1,500/year, $6000 over four years. School of the Art Institute of Chicago Distinguished Scholar Scholarship, recognizing high school accomplishments, $22,050/year, $88,200 over four years. Syracuse University International Grant, $10,000/year, $40,000 over four years. The University of Alabama Presidential Scholar, recognizing academic excellence, $26,950/year, $107,800 over four years. Engineering Tier Scholarship, recognizing academic excellence, $2,500/year, $10,000 over four years The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Colonel Robinson Scholarship, recognizes outstanding academic achievement and strong potential for continued leadership and engagement at Carolina. The Colonel Robinson Scholarship emphasizes mathematics, science, and engineering disciplines, so students with a demonstrated interest in those fields are given priority. In addition to faculty mentoring, a strong cohort of fellow scholars, and regular enrichment opportunities, Colonel Robinson Scholars have access to summer research funding. $9,000/year, $36,000 over four years. (2) The University of the Arts Distinguished Scholar/Artist Scholarship, awarded on the basis of academic excellence and demonstrated talent, $18,000/year, $72,000 over four years. The University of the South (Sewanee) Wilkins Scholarship, 100 awards annually, recognizing academic excellence, $20,000/year, $80,000 over four years. The University of Tulsa Capstone Scholarship, recognizing academic excellence and leadership$23,000/year $92,000 over four years. Tulane University Dean s Recognition Award, recognizes high school accomplishments, $22,000/year, $88,000 over four years. Presidential Scholarship, recognizing outstanding high school achievement, $33,000/year, $132,000 over four years. United States Air Force Academy Appointment to the US Air Force Academy, a full scholarship covering tuition, room, board, books, fees as well as stipends, valued at approximately $400,000 over four years.

University of Colorado Boulder Chancellor s Achievement Scholarship, awarded to incoming nonresident freshmen in the top 25% of CU Boulder s admitted nonresident freshman class, $6,250/year, $25,000 over four years. University of Denver Chancellor s Scholarship, recognizing academic achievement, $19,000/year, $76,000 over four years. Pioneer Scholarship, recognizing academic excellence, $15,000/year, $60,000 over four years University of Georgia Classic Scholars, recognizing academic achievements of non residents, awards a minimum of $9,105/year, $36,420 over four years. University of Kansas Jayhawks Generations Scholarship, $12,592/year or $50,368 over 4 years. Merit Scholarship, $25,000/year, $100,000 over four years. University of South Carolina Flinn and Capstone Scholars Award recognizing academic achievement, $79, 000 over 4 years. Flinn Scholars Award, recognizing excellent academic achievement, $500 and tuition reduction to in state costs, $77,000 over 4 years. McKissick Scholars Award, recognizing academic excellence, $2,000/year plus tuition reduction valued at more than $83,000 over four years Sims Scholars Award, recognizing academic excellence, $500/year plus significant reduction valued at nearly $40,000 over for years University of Southern California National Merit Presidential Scholarship, awarded to USC students who are National Merit Finalists, $25,720/year (half tuition), $102,880 over four years. University of Washington Purple and Gold Scholarship, a predominately academic scholarship, but activities, achievements, and leadership are also considered. $4500/year or $18,000 over 4 years. Virginia Tech Emerging Leaders Merit Scholarship, recognizing academic achievement and evidence of leadership potential,

5 $12,000 total over 4 years. Whitman College Alexander J. Anderson Scholarship recognizing academic excellence, $60,000 over four years. Scholarships from Outside Organizations Army ROTC Clemson University Full tuition, fees, books and a stipend valued at approximately $160,000 over 4 years. Army ROTC Virginia Tech Full tuition, fees, books and a stipend valued at approximately $144,250 over 4 years. Duke Energy Scholarship Awarded for academic excellence, leadership, participation in school & community activities, honors, awards, and work experience. $5,000/year, $20,000 over four years. National Merit Scholarship Corporation National Merit Scholarship, $2,500 National Merit Scholarship Corporation Citizen Watch Scholarship Awarded for academic excellence and participation in high school sports teams and other extracurricular activities. In addition each student is awarded a CITIZEN timepiece valued at ~$250 and their name will be featured in a national ad created by CITIZEN in the New York Times in the spring. Internships within Citizen Watch Company of America will also be offered to the winners, as well as other company opportunities at events during the year. $1,000/year, $4,000 over four years. Phi Beta Kappa Association of Wake County Essay Contest First Place in Senior Division, $500, one time. PEO Star Scholarship Recognizing a woman who exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service and potential for future success, $2,500, one time.
