Please try to attend these very important meeting to schedule your child s classes for next year. Each advisor has called or mailed information to the parent about the scheduling night. If you have not scheduled an appointment at this time, please do so by either or phone call. If you are unable to attend either of these nights, you will still need to schedule an appointment with your student s advisor to schedule your student. 3 K-PREP TESTING SPRING 2014 At present you can plan around the following test days that are scheduled : ACT for Juniors Tuesday, March 4th K-Prep on Demand(10th & 11th) Tuesday, May 13th COMPASS Exams (12th Grade) on-going AP Environmental Science May 5th 8:00 AM AP Chemistry May 5th 8:00 AM AP English Literature & Composition May 8th 8:00 AM AP Statistics May 9th 12:00 PM AP Biology May 12th 8:00 AM AP US History May 14th 8:00 AM EOC exams for English 10, Algebra 2, US History, and Biology TBA Local scholarship information issued Local scholarship information and applications are now listed on the high school guidance website. (See schedule of application deadlines listed below.) Information which most applications require includes: high school transcript. FAFSA or SAR or if FAFSA is not complete, include 2012 tax info. Some applications require: a copy of the student s College/ University acceptance letter, biographical sketch, essay, and a recent photograph. Scholarship information from other sources will be coming in almost daily between now and the end of the school year. We encourage students to review the scholarship listings on the website. It is extremely important that students assume the responsibility for keeping up with the most recent postings. KEES...IT PAYS!!! Please continue to encourage your child to make good grades. It Pays!!! 4 Colleges/Universities that require registration with NAIA KENTUCKY COLLEGE & UNIVERSITIES Alice Lloyd College, Pippa Passes Asbury University, Wilmore Berea College, Berea Brescia College, Owensboro Campbellsville University, Campbellsville University of the Cumberlands, Williamsurg Georgetown College, Georgetown Kentucky Christian University, Grayson Lindsey Wilson College, Columbia Mid-Continent University, Mayfield Midway College, Midway Pikeville College, Pikeville St. Catherine College, St. Catherine Union College, Barbourville NAIA Eligibility Center to open Fall 2010 Beginning in the fall of 2010, students who wish to participate in athletics at a member institution will need to be certified by the NAIA Eligibility Center to qualify academically and be cleared as an eligible student-athlete for competition beginning in The NAIA Eligibility Center website will launch in April, with registration starting September 1. First-time NAIA participants high school students, transfers from non-naia schools and those who have never participated in athletics at an NAIA-member school must register with the online service. For Students Interested in Playing College Athletics Students planning on participating in athletics at the college level must file an eligibility form. Application for certification with the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse should be made after the completion of their junior year. Forms are only available on line at Students must return the pink and yellow form or copy #1 and copy #2 to Mrs. Spear. Remember to use the Clearinghouse code #9999 when registering to take the ACT and/or SAT. GOOD GRADES ROCK!
