This may include special shows for seasonal events, Homecoming, Senior Night, competitions, and yes, playoffs. Football games are generally on Friday nights (except the first two games) with a 7:30 pm start time. Attendance To maintain membership in the color guard attendance at after school rehearsals and performances is mandatory. members do not receive grades, but poor attendance may disqualify a member from earning a school letter and/or from continuing to participate. Absences from these functions will be counted as unexcused unless prior arrangements have been made in writing with the Band Director. Any unexcused absences and/or excessive excused absences may result in the disqualification of a student from earning a school letter in color guard and may result in a probationary or permanent removal from the band program. Criteria used to determine excused/unexcused absences is the same used by Grayson High School s established attendance guidelines. Band Camp Marching Band & Only The weeks of summer band camp are a vital part of the marching band. Students work long hours and days in rehearsal learning to march and play as well as begin to learn the performance shows for the season. Attendance at band camp for MB & CG members is required. The first official report date is July 15, Students that do not attend Band Camp will not be guaranteed a permanent position on the field, but may participate with the marching band as an alternate or absentee fill-in. The Director reserves the right to alter these conditions as necessary for special or extenuating circumstances. Student Accounts Members of the GHS Band program may earn money to pay dues, trip costs and other band-related expenses through our fund-raising and concession stand programs.
