Mari Vasquez 350 seior totes doated For the past five years Agie Mari, MSN, RN-BC, urse maager o Davis 7 Pediatrics, has orgaized Seior Totes for Sacrameto Couty Adult Protective Services. Over the course of that time, UC Davis Medical Ceter has doated more tha 350 totes. This year, Agie delivered 80 tote bags doated by staff across the medical ceter. UC Davis Health s Woud Care Team, led by Holly Kirklad-Kyh, Ph.D., NP, cotiues to set the bar high with process improvemets ad outcomes to share with other health systems. I Jue, UC Davis Health held the first uiversity-wide UC Collaborative Pressure Ulcer Summit, where advacedpractice urses, cliical urse specialists, ad quality ad safety directors from the UC system ad the Washigto State Hospital Associatio coveed for the Quarterly Nursig Quality Survey. Summit participats shared their respective: processes for data collectio ad assurace of quality ad validity; prove strategies for collectig data o pressure ulcers preset o admissio; ad stadardized reportig of hospital-acquired pressure ulcers to regulatory bodies. The delegates coducted bedside survey rouds o all patiet care uits with the woud care team, led by Holly ad cliical urses who had completed the Woud Treatmet Associate (WTA) program. Gayoba, RN, BSN, recetly received the Stroke Award of Excellece for the exceptioal assessmet ad decisio-makig skills he displayed while carig for a postaesthesia trascatheter aortic valve replacemet (TAVR) patiet. Stroke is oe of the risks of the miimally ivasive, lifesavig TAVR procedure, ad Be bega to suspect it after oticig his PACU patiet had weakess holdig the oral suctio device for PRN suctioig. The patiet lacked other symptoms such as facial droop, ptosis, or slurred speech, ad the ew weakess oset prompted Be to otify the primary service ad activate the stroke alert. With a quick respose from the primary team, the patiet was trasported to CT withi 9 miutes ad met by the stroke team. After TPA admiistratio, the patiet showed istataeous improvemets i arm stregth ad fuctio. Collaboratio with the CCU M.D., eurologist, pharmacist ad rapid respose urse provided the best outcome for this patiet.
