APPRENTICESHIP REFORMS May 2017 saw the introduction of the apprenticeship reforms, which included a Register of Apprenticeship Providers (RoATP). Companies that are listed on the RoATP, of which we are one, have been through an application process with the SFA that considers due diligence, capability, quality and financial health to assess their capability to deliver high-quality apprenticeship training. The funding landscape for apprenticeships changed significantly, a new apprenticeship levy for large employers was introduced. The Digital Apprenticeship Service was created to source approved training providers and manage all payments for apprenticeship training in an online account. The initial key business impacts are: There will be a 1,000 Employer Payment made to the employer for each apprenticeship start (Up to 24 if learner is care leaver or has an EHP). There will be a 10% ( initially) employer contribution required for all 19+ starts (except if learner is care leaver or has an EHP). Employers with an annual wage bill of 3M or more will be required to contribute 0.5% of their total wage bill to the new apprenticeship levy and current apprenticeship frameworks will change to apprenticeship standards starting in 2018 with Independent End Point Assessments (EPA) being introduced to replace the current model of continuous assessment. 5
