3 Dpt of Programming and Control To investigate the population s health needs To assess the weight of the most common risk factors for acute and chronic diseases in the area To plan the health services required to respond to the population s health demands To pay health providers (hospitals, clinics, laboratories ) for the services they provide To evaluate the effectiveness, safety and cost benefit ratio of the health services provided according to standards of quality Departments of Prevention and Primary Care Dpt of Medical Prevention directly provides services and implements control activities for prevention regarding: Infectious diseases Food safety Chronic diseases prevention Occupational safety Dpt of Medical and Veterinary Prevention implements control activities for prevention regarding: Food safety Veterinary Health Dpt of Primary Care is dedicated to Health services governance, through Primary Care Practitioners Governance of pharmaceutical and prosthetic supply

5 WHY THE CriCoRM PROJECT? During the emergencies ASL is responsible for the health of the population living in the area ASL in the past years faced several emergency situations in which it developed an internal organizational model aimed to optimize crisis preparedness Examples: Millenium Bug 1999, Spongiliform Encephalopathy, Bioterrorism, Salò Earthquake 2004 The expertise in this field led to the EU HEALTHREATS Project ( ) aimed to the development of a Decision Support System for Health Crisis Management EXPECTATIONS FROM CRICORM The essential role of communication with citizens/stakeholders has emerged clearly during emergencies that ASL Brescia faced and during the EU funded HEALTHREATS Project coordinated by ASL Brescia We aim to achieve an effective communication strategy, which will ultimately increase population compliance with public health recommendations
