For health and welfare Social services Health care services Environmental services Suupohjan peruspalvelu- liikelaitoskuntayhtymä The Suupohja Area Health and Social Services Joint Municipal Board
Social services We produce and develop social services for families, adult social services and services for the disabled in our member municipalities, with emphasis on a preventative approach. Social services for families Families with children are supported by various open welfare support measures of social services and child protection. Through family services and counselling, we seek to achieve early interventions and support families in managing their resources and taking control of their lives. Custody or placement outside the home is the last resort for safeguarding a child's care. We are constantly developing private care services to replace institutional care. Adult social work We carry out preventative, long-term and multidisciplinary work to support customers in need of financial and social support. Our customers require support in problems related to their livelihood, employment, mental health and/or substance use. Our goal is to promote the overall rehabilitation of our customers and help them take control of their own lives. Services for the disabled We produce services and support for disabled persons to promote their independence and social equality. Our services include transport services, personal assistance, rehabilitation instruction, assisted living services, occupational activities and day activities. We offer our customers rehabilitating and stimulating activities that maintain their ability to function, as well as comfortable and safe assisted living services.
Health care services and services for the elderly We produce customer-oriented services together with our customers. Our objective is to provide timely and effective services for our customers. Our activities are preventative in nature and promote health and welfare. Clinical operations Doctors' and nurses' appointments Emergency care services Occupational health care Oral health care Family guidance clinics (maternity, child care, parenting) School and student health care Laboratory and X-ray services Physiotherapy Special health care We mainly purchase special health care services from the Hospital District of Southern Ostrobothnia. Timely care Doctors' and nurses' appointments are provided as local services in all of our member municipalities. Trained nursing staff is responsible for evaluating the need and urgency of treatment, as well as for consulting services. On-call nurses as well as doctors are available for appointments. Choices that promote health Our operating method is based on a health benefit model, by which we are able to respond to the increasing challenges posed by chronic disease. Treatment is planned and implemented in co-operation with the patient, underlining the patient's active participation in the process. Each patient has a multidisciplinary health care team available for support and expert consulting.
Ward services Acute wards Rehabilitation wards Mental health centre Services for the elderly Home care Day activities Memory clinic Night care Family care Assisted living An operating method that supports rehabilitation We emphasise the maintenance and improvement of the patient's ability to function in all of our operations. We support patients in living independently and being able to manage their daily lives on their own resources. Together with a physiotherapist, we draw up individual rehabilitation plans for each patient. Services that promote the ability to function We are constantly developing our services away from institutional care, toward services available at home, open services and assisted living. We support and promote our customers' ability to function, recreational activities, nutrition, safety and coping at home, in order for our customers to be able to live at home for as long as possible. Family care provides cosy services We offer family care to customers who are neither able to manage at home on their own, nor require assisted living or institutional care as of yet. A home environment enables individual care and comfortable, home-like living. We offer training and support for people interested in becoming family care nurses.
Environmental services As authorities, we work to ensure that the environment stays healthy, safe and diverse, for people and animals both. Environmental health supervision We maintain and promote public health and that of individuals. We prevent, mitigate and eliminate harmful environmental factors that may cause health hazards. Our supervision duties include food supervision, health care as well as supervision of tobacco products and consumer safety. Environmental protection We seek to prevent damage to the environment through the environmental permit procedure and supervision. We support sustainable development and help residents influence their own environment. Veterinary care We guarantee the availability of basic veterinary care around the clock. Animals have a right to well-being and good treatment. The objective of animal welfare is to protect animals in the most effective possible manner.
In the Suupohja Area Health and Social Services Joint Municipal Board, we work for health and welfare. We produce social, health and environmental services equally to all residents of our joint area of operation. Working on the cutting edge of progress, we take care of our customers, environment and employees. We place particular emphasis on preventative work and constantly highlight the importance of the energy and independent initiative of our residents. The Joint Municipal Board was established in June 2008 and the provision of services began on 1 January The municipalities of Kauhajoki, Teuva, Isojoki and Karijoki are members of the board. Services are commissioned by a co-operation board consisting of representatives from all the member municipalities. The area's total population is approximately 24,000 residents. The Joint Municipal Board employs roughly 800 persons. We produce health and welfare with an annual budget of approximately EUR 100 million.
