Course Locations All classes are located at one of UA Cossatot s locations, unless otherwise noted. If the location is not noted in the schedule or on your registration confirmation, you will be notified as soon as the location is assigned. If you need directions, please call Continuing Education Services at Registration & Payment Options Payment is due on or before the register by date. Registrations are processed in the order in which they are received. Registration and payment should be made to guarantee your place in a class. We endeavor to provide a courtesy reminder to finalize registrations. However, registrations not finalized with payment of tuition on or before the register by date may be voided, resulting in the student s removal from the course roster. UA Cossatot seeks to provide learning opportunities for a variety of age groups. However, unless stated otherwise, students under the age of 18 will need prior approval from Continuing Education Services to register. Continuing Education classes do not qualify for the Federal Pell Grant Program. Dropping a Course Please call Continuing Education Services as soon as possible to drop a class. A request to drop a course is required by the published register by date for a refund. Refunds Tuition is fully refundable or transferable up to the register by date. Our goal is to ensure the greatest opportunity for participation in courses; however, late registration cannot be guaranteed and is non-refundable. If a class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or other unforeseeable circumstances, a full refund of tuition will be issued automatically and registrants will be notified. UA Cossatot reserves the right to reschedule, cancel, and appoint an alternate instructor for all classes. Inclement Weather In the event that the area weather is so severe the college feels that life and property may be in danger, classes may be cancelled until weather and road conditions improve. We strive to get the announcements regarding closures out to students, faculty, and staff in a timely fashion. Announcements regarding college closing will be made over the following radio stations: in De Queen KDQN 92.1 and KTYC 88.5, and in Nashville KMTB 99.5 and KBPU 88.7, and on the following television stations, KARK Channel 4 from Little Rock and KTBS Channel 3 from Shreveport and UA Cossatot social media. Textbooks Some courses require the purchase of a textbook, software or supplementary material. Students should check the Continuing Education Schedule to determine if a textbook is required, and visit the Educational Resource Center (ERC) to purchase textbooks. An ERC representative will make textbooks available for sale on the same campus that the course will be conducted beginning one week prior to the beginning and the first week of class. Upon successful completion of the course the student will have entry-level skills and knowledge to become a successful Logging Truck Driver. Offered on demand, call for class information. $450 OSHA 10 The OSHA-10 Outreach Training Program, ideal for entry level workers and employers, is recommended by OSHA as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers. Some employers, unions, organizations or other jurisdictions may also require this training. The quilt consists of two different 9 blocks a or Fight block and a Snowball block. The blocks consists of 9 fabrics with six of the nine being scrapped out forming the chain. Different techniques will be used in constructing the quilt such as foundation piecing, strip sewing and short cuts being shared. A wonderful quilt! Basic Electricity for the NonElectrician This electrical course was created for students who want to expand their knowledge of basic electricity in the home. 9 Nursing Assistant Training Program This 90-hour training combines classroom instruction, lab activities, and supervised practical training in a nursing facility. It prepares students for all aspects of nursing assisting. Course curriculum follows the 2010 AHA science and guidelines for CPR. This class teaches the skill of CPR AED for victims of all ages. This course is for the healthcare professional who needs to know how to perform CPR as well as other lifesaving skills in a wide variety of settings in both the inhospital and out of hospital settings. $34 Call for class information National Continued Competency Requirement (NCCR) This 24 hour class (takes the place of the traditional 24 hour EMT refresher) may be taken to maintain state licensed as an Emergency Medical Technician and/or meet the NREMT renewal requirements. Classes are a low-stress covering existing knowledge and introduceing new information. The National Registry of EMT s requires that all Nationally Registered EMTs complete the National Continued Competency Requirements as outlined by the NREMT published in October 2016 in order to maintain their NREMT status. This class contains the twenty (20) hours of NCCR and it will also contain an additional four (4) hour trauma course pertaining to Arkansas Trauma System. 10 Nursing and Allied Health Pharmacy Technician Program This comprehensive 50 hour program will prepare students to work as a pharmacy technician in a retail or other pharmacy setting and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board s PTCB exam. Course content includes: pharmacy medical terminology, the history of pharmacy, the pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy calculations and measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Through classroom lecture and hands on labs, students will review dosage calculations, drug classifications, the top 200 drugs, I.V. flow rates, sterile compounding, dose conversions, aseptic technique, the handling of sterile products, total parental nutrition (TPN), dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement. $1,199 (Textbooks included) CED Q Register by: June 12 Date: June 19-August 7 (Tuesdays and Thursdays) Time: 6:00PM-9:30PM Location: Ashdown Instructor: TBA EKG Technician Certification Program This comprehensive 50 hour EKG Technician Certification Program prepares students to function as EKG Technicians and to take the ASPT Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician exam and other National Certification Exams. This course will include important practice and background information on anatomy and physiology of the heart, medical disease processes, medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, electrocardiography and stress testing. Additionally, students will practice with EKG equipment and perform hands on labs including introduction to the function and proper use of the EKG machine, the normal anatomy of the chest wall for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement and other clinical practices. $999 (Textbooks included) CED Q Register by: June 11 Date: June 18-August 8 (Mondays and Wednesdays) Time: 6:00PM-9:30PM Instructor: TBA Phlebotomy Technician Program This 90 hour Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology; blood collection procedures; specimen hands-on practice; and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. Note: There is no outside externship rotation included with this program. $1,799 (Textbooks included) CED Q Register by: May 29 Date: June 5-August 14 (Tuesdays and Thursdays) Time: 6:00PM 9:30PM Saturdays 6-23, 7-14 & 8-4 9:00AM 3:00PM Instructor: TBA Medical Billing and Coding Program This combined 80 hour billing and coding course offers the skills needed to solve insurance billing problems, how to manually file claims (using the CPT and ICD-10 manual), complete common insurance forms, trace delinquent claims, appeal denied claims and use generic forms to streamline billing procedures. The course covers the following areas: CPT (Introduction, Guidelines, Evaluation and Management), specialty fields (such as surgery, radiology and laboratory), ICD-10 (Introduction and Guidelines) and basic claims processes for medical insurance and third party reimbursements.
