9 PIP is an excellent pathway for high school seniors to gain experience in the nursing career field or industry prior to taking college level courses One semester, including unpaid internship of approximately 16 weeks during the school year
10 Behavioral Health - My sponsor was very sweet and would always answer all of my questions. I would observe a lot and ask questions. The most beneficial part of my internship is when my sponsor let me inside the patient room and I got to listen and observe. I enjoyed my internship and it made me realize the time commitment and dedication you have to have. Human Resources The most beneficial part of my internship was making new employee files. This is a great hands on experience for interns interested in human resources and helps them practice skills for the future. Some of the assignments were repetitive. My sponsor was knowledgeable and always willing to help. In the future, I will practice and utilize the job skills, resume skills and interview skills learned from my internship. Physical Therapy I learned what it was like to work with elderly patients at my internship. I would recommend using Methodist hospital for internships because it really does give you hands on experiences as much as possible. I enjoyed shadowing my sponsor and meeting new people and patients. Women's Imaging I learned about mammography very quickly at my internship. My internship consisted of folding and mailing out patient results and doctors letters. I enjoyed seeing mammograms and this is where I felt I learned the most. My sponsors were very friendly and welcoming and I enjoyed meeting new people. Social Work/ BH The internship was more fun than I expected. I thought this would be more of a desk job but it was fun because I was able to follow my sponsor around to meet patients and observe what they entered into the computer. The people at Methodist are very friendly. I found it very beneficial to know how to fax and I also learned the correct way to talk to patients.
